    I`m with you guys :smt023

My son can be a little S**T sometimes....so the Gamecube/GBA-SP and TV go from his room when needs must.

I was going to get him a DS as well recently but the little buggar has enough and use of most of my stuff......must be one of the luckiest 7 year olds around!

The shit thing, is you can't even cough in the direction of your children nowaday's, without social services coming in and taking your kids away.

I'm all for protecting kids from abusers, but if my kid(s) do something really bad, I should be allowed to smack them. Never did me any harm *twitch*

You should see how the system's set up here in the states -- it's pretty dead-on to what you said above. That said, I think it's intelligent as parents to teach their kids lessons that stick -- even if it means the most harsh of all. You have no idea how many bratty kids with a major self-entitlement complex I've seen in recent years.

If my kids acted in this manner, the first thing would be the video games or whatever "big thing" they enjoyed was. If it got to the point where nothing else worked, I'd gladly take Christmas (at least the materialistic side) out of the home faster than you can say "kthxbye".

Kids have it far easier today than even I had it 10, 15 years ago. They grew up in a society that values the "material and hip" even more than they did in the 80s, over responsibility and merit. They need a good proverbial clocking once in a while to remind them the world revolves around the sun, not the son.
