where would you even get this kinda stuff? do they cost a lot more than the standard systems? is there a write up anywhere? so this is basically what all the game reviewers use to make all those videos and screen grabs?

In the first pic you have x360s with white things on the top = what are those?

    Sidecars,

Sidecars are what developers use, they have 2 features

Dvd Emulation (Run game of computers hdd rather than xbox's)
Pix Debugging (lets you see what cpu is outputting)

Newer sidecars on xna kits have a gigabit (think thats what its called) port, this allows for faster transfering of data to the console,

Xna kits also have an extra 512mb's of ram for extra l33t debugging.

The white ones (test kits) only have the dvd Emulation, but if u remove the piece of plastic on the left side you can use pix to.

Hope this answers your sidecar questions :p

Fell in love with that blue PS2 TOOL!
It was my understanding that the Performance Analyzer was an add-on "hardware+software"... I didn't think it was an entire TOOL.

Any ideas what's different in it, hardware/software wise?
Can a regular TOOL be somehow converted into a Performance Analyzer?
Is the PA stand-alone? Or does it need to be connected to a TOOL?
