i wasn't trying to mock any efforts. But its a whole different cup of tea in terms of complexity to program something on the PSP using PSPSDK, or reversing a firmware binary image. There are a few people out there capable, but onyl a small part of them are up to make "general public" releases like the OE stuff. Undoubtedly, the position will be grabbed this time, cause the OE procedure is now well-known, and someone will be able to claim that spot, gaining a lot of publicity. but i would be surprised (to a degree, baffled) if that person will be 15 yrs old. tubo
Noooooooo - the only thing a PSP is good for is to play my PSX titles! Fair play to hi anyway though.
Yeah, that's exactly the kind of attitude I don't understand. A lot of DA "fans" acted like their PSPs would be worthless now - come on, there are a load of official games for the system, some of which are very good.
What exactly is OE? Open Embedded? The 3.51 version number seems to indicate so. Open Embedded is dead anyway... they are moving to Angstrom.
No, that's something entirely different. The "OE" in PSP firmwares stands for "Open Edition" (IIRC), which are hacked versions of Sony's official firmware.
Don't underestimate guys of my age or so : for example, Fuzziqer, the guy behind the free and only publicly available PSO server and who made a GC debugger is in high school :
@Haruglory thats why i said, I don't mean to mock anyone. Its simply unusual. I am actually happy you cited the guy -- good to see that new people pick up the pieces from the old schoolers tubo
reminds me of the days of trying to figure out the SNES when i was a kid =) nostalgic. I hope my kids take interest in such activities early on and become rich for their own sake
I don't mind the over-generalizations of 15-yearold kids being script kiddies because it's 99% true anyway. Which is why I avoid the PSP scene like the plague and and embrace the desert that is now the N64 scene
