Sounds like it's got nothing to do with BT, if that happens when it's not even open ;)

Do the usual maintenence, and try system restore.

I buy the music when possible. Most of the stuff I listen to is European, though, and isn't printed over here :(. I rarely have access to eBay, so I'm usually forced to download.

What's Kazaa Lite Resurrection? I'm using "Kazaa Lite K++ edition" (something like that).

Kazaa Lite K++ edition is the best version since ressurrection is filled with useless spyware and addware.

  4. For the occasional MP3 (as opposed to buying a $16 shit album with one or two good songs) you can't really beat the ease and security of IRC. The relative learning curve makes it anathemia to college frat boys and 14-year olds, so the RIAA isn't going to be cracking down on it any time soon. mIRC is the best Windows client hands down, but I couldn't tell you about other OS'.

Well, if you ever need a European CD, don't hesitate to let me know, I can help you out (though CDs are a bit more expensive around here, usually 18e for new albums)

You call that expensive? They're usually 20 Euro here, if not 21!

If it's an album I *really* like - one I can listen to the whole way through - I usually buy it. Or if it's something that's hard to find or hard to find decent MP3s of I'd buy it too. And fortunately my local HMV do permanent all-year-round sales... I think they're broken...

    Shareaza. --> http://www.shareaza.com/

It's ad-free, spyware-free, and it's open source. Plus it supports Edonkey2000, Gnutella1, Gnutella2 and BitTorrent networks. The GUI is clean and simple, and it does work great.

It really depends where you get them from. At FYE (a music chain here), CD's are often $18+.

I appreciate the offer, Anti. The problem is, I don't have a Paypal account. Once I get a checkbook I'm going to sign up. I'll have quite the spending spree when that happens :).

For P2P Bit Torrent is the way to go. TorrentSpy.com and BitComet.

What do you guys think about eDonkey/Overnet?? I used to use that. THats where I got all of some nice rare games for Saturn, PSX, and DC for free but it took like months to download lol.

I haven't used it in the past 4 months though.

I use K-lite K++, which is Spyware free.
I've also used WinMX, with not much success, but I did find that Tomomi Kahala song I'd been looking for. It's good for Japanese stuff, for sure.

I use BitComet for the Torrents and haven't had much trouble.
I hate spyware with a passion - it's just something immoral to screw up people's computers like that. Most of the computers I fix have spyware related issues. SERIOUS issues, at that. Whomever thought up the stuff should be hanged by his private parts from a ventilator, then skinned and rolled in salt.

The official version doesn't - Its open source - check the source code!

  18. Does anyone else hate the latest official BitTorrent client? I upgraded to 4.whatever and immediately scrambled my way around the internet to the safety of 3.4.1. Just because other BT clients use all sorts of fancy new GUI crap doesn't mean the official one needs to go that way. :(

hmmm i use BitTornado and that is a quite good BT client without any bundled software

the_steadster: i just once heard a story about the official client had spy and addware in it.

so that was my knowledge from a kazza lite forum, now filesharingtalk.com .

I tend to use azureus for BT - seems to be the nicest client, if a bit complex
