Hello everyone ! I warn you that I am French and that I use a translator, I apologize for the mistakes I might make ...

I bought a DECR1000A, everything is ok except the BD drive which is broken (I think it is broken, I insert a disk and nothing happens in the XMB!). But having no clear information on this device, I have many questions (I have already read the topics of this forum on the DECR):
    - What is the "Install Packages" and "app_home / ps3_game" icons for?
    - Can homebrews (emulators or others) be read on this machine? If yes, how ?
    - Can PS3, PS2 and PS1 Isos be played on this unit ? If yes, how ?
    - Where can I find the update files for the CP and the DECR's firmware? Do CFWs work?
    - Why the PS3 Controllers do not work wirelessly? How do I activate WiFi?
    - And finally, what are the possibilities offered by this machine and which are feasible for a novice like me? :)

Thank you all for your answers!

You need the antenna for wireless. No good CFW, no ps1 or ps2 support really, although ps2 has some stuff working I think through other means. Try turning off the BD emulator

You can also ghetto hack an antenna from a WiFi dongle or whatever to work. Just poke a piece of thin wire into the antenna port on the TOOL and do the same the other end with the antenna and it'll work fine. I used one like this for ages before I got the official one. :)

Thank you for this first answer ! And for the others questions, do you have some answers ? :) BD emulator is turned off, so I think my BD drive is dead...

    Hi

-Install Packages is used for installing .pkg files. This ranges from games to homebrew or tools.
-app_home/PS3_GAME is used for using a PC as the file system for a game. If a game is being developed and you wish to not use a disc, this is what it is used for (think like playing a game with a wire instead of a disc, or without installing to HDD)
-Yes they can, but they must be DEX versions. They are very restrictive however and as a result are useless most of the time
-PS3 yes. PS2 and PS1 no. You can use BDEMU or app_home (there are many guides/tutorials available) or package it to be installed to the HDD
-I dont know much about the CP side of a DECR1000A, as this was removed in DECR1400A, but DECR Firmware updates you can search the forum for my archive
-Wireless controllers require the antenna, which is likely missing from what you're saying. You will have to use a wired controller (usb)
-There are many possibilities. Homebrew game development, using it as a normal PS3 system, or various other things like OtherOS. It all depends on what you wish to do.

The BDEMU HDD may have nothing on it. You can turn on BDEMU and test it. BDEMU is a hard drive or USB drive that acts like a disc. If you turn it on and a disc appears, let me know. If the BDEMU HDD is empty it will show nothing. If the BDEMU drive is damaged or non-functional then you can't use it.

Edit: CFW will not work on this system. DECR need DECR Firmware. DEX firmware will not work on it.

Thank you for your complete answer ! For the communication beetwen my PC and the target, I must download Pro DG Target Manager software, isn't it ?
For the BDEMU, are we talking about the same thing? My BD drive is dead, so I selected the "HDD (Dev)" in the boot options, but there is nothing that appears on the XMB in "Game" (I think this drive is empty). Can I install games on this internal HDD or do I need a USB stick or an external USB HDD to install them?

For Target Manager and PC communications you are correct.
And yes I had mistaken what you said. BDEMU is the HDD, BD Drive is the disc drive (I was thinking BD Hard Drive for some reason)

Installing games to the system's "game" folder can be done with Target Manager (reboot to debug mode if you use this method), USB flash drive or HDD (would need to be fat32 however) but would need to be pkg files. The OTHER option is use PS3Gen Tools and create an ISO and send it to BDEMU via Target Manager (or use a BDEMU formatted external USB HDD). If you do this it should work just fine.

Yes but its not exactly on the stable side and even then it just enables retail content iirc.

I can't do that, I don't know why... I've got a PS3 game with a folder "PS3 GAME" but i can't send it to my DECR... Have you got a tutorial to do this ?

Jackhead has a thread about using BDEMU. It's not a matter of sending it to a system but instead building a special ISO that gets written to the BDEMU HDD.

I dont have a guide unfortunately but I can make one.

I also dont know if it matters but the eboot.bin should be signed as an fself eboot for usage with dev tools (if that comes out strange for translating thats fine)

I already read the guide of Jackhead but I don't understand much (I just start on the DECR1000A device ...).
From what I understand, DECR1000A contains two internal HDDs, the right one has the same function as a classical PS3 internal HDD, and the second is called "HDD (Dev) " and it is on this one that one can put BDEMU?
My goal: I want to put PS3 games on one of the HDD and be able to play on the device. And I would like to know the procedure! And I'd also like to install homebrews or emulators.

I have downloaded a PS3 game (South Park The Stick of Truth, and I have the original BD !), but it's not in ISO format (I have a PS3_GAME file and a PS3_DISC.SFB file).

To help you, here is an extract of the output console of Pro DG when I turn on my DECR1000A. As a reminder, the BD player is dead I have to change it, and here are the boot settings since 192.168.0.2

    Boot parameters :
"Boot mode Debugger mode °System software mode
User process memory size °384MB (Tool setting) 192MB (Console setting)
Blu-ray Disc access °BD emulator (HDD) BD drive
    Transfer rate pacing
    for BD emulator
°HDD native Equiv. to BD drive
Target model °PS3 HDD 60GB Model PS3 HDD 20GB Model"

    ProDG Console output :

EDIT : I also research CP firmware updates for DECR1000A!

EDIT 2 : I managed to put a game in the BDEMU of the DECR1000A! I used Cobra ODE to create an ISO! And thanks to ProDG, I managed to mount an image in the BDEMU!

However, I found that there were only 4 "slots" to put ISOS in the BDEMU, you can not put more or store on the HDD?

Big problem: I have an error 80010009 when I want to launch the game from the XMB ... I've got the same problem when I've installed a PKG file like an SNES emulator (error 80010017).
    My firmware is 4.60.

Keep trying Jackheads guide for creating BDEMU images. It explains perfectly how to get a game working on a DECR-1000A. It might be hard to follow if you don't speak very good English but it does work very well and you'll soon get the hang of it.

What you are trying to do currently isn't going to work for a multitude of reasons.

I can understand (a bit) Jackheads' guide so I'll try this quickly and keep you informed!

Also, I did some testing by downgrading the firmware 4.60 to 3.15 CFW (the only custom firmware for the DECR1000A that I found online I don't know if there are others.), I managed to start emulators after installing their .PKG (SNES9X and FCEU emulators) . But I decided to go back to 4.60 and since then, I cannot start emulators (error 80010017).

    - How to install homebrews on an official firmware on a DECR1000A? Can PSN games be installed in the same way?

Big step today!:) I succeeded, following only the beginning of the Jackhead's guide, to start a game from the internal BDEMU of my DECR1000A! I understood how to proceed to put games on the internal HDD :) Great ! and thanks to those who helped me!

Now, the other goal I want to achieve is to start PSN games and emulators (of others homebrews). As a reminder, my firmware is in 4.60.
For a PSN game, I did a test with a demo (Sonic CD PS3) and it worked because the file came with a "patch" pkg for firmware 3.55, without installing this pkg, the PSN game did not start. Someone has an explanation?

I have two emulators in .pkg format but that do not work, surely because I'm in a more recent firmware. Is it possible to patch homebrews to make them compatible with my firmware?

That "patch" was a modded eboot to either make it DRM local or just DRM free, such mods tend to be debug signed as most homebrew is iirc thus it works on your DECR.
The reason homebrew wouldn't work has less to do with your firmware and more to do with the homebrew but as you never said which you tried IDK what to tell ya :/

I'm sorry but I don't understand what you are saying (yes I have two problems: I am French :Dwith some notions of English, and I am not an expert regarding the language of the PS3!).

What information do you want to know that could help you find a solution to my problem? And can I also install PSN games on my device ?
