I'm using a Corsair H60 (2013 version) it's a single 120mm Radiator. The fluid is already in the system and doesn't need to be changed. The cooler has good reviews but I haven't fired it up yet to confirm that it cools well. There is a 240mm rad version called the H100. They are designed to work with most Intel and AMD processors.

The Rockchip RK3066 is a 1.6Ghz part. Dual core though, the other page I read about it said quad core, but WP says dual core.

I said Playstation 2 era stuff, meaning Dreamcast and Gamecube too.

But yeah, it's in no way a drop-in replacement for a full-blown desktop if you want that later gen stuff.

    Awesome!

Do you know by any chance if there's anything similar for GPU?

The cooling reviews say they are not as good as a good air cooler and priced about the same. =

What review are you looking at? There are 2 versions of the H60, i have the latest 2013 edition that has excellent reviews.

I am not saying its bad, just that its apparently not as good as the high end air coolers (which cost very similar money).

Its apparently very good for water on a budget though.

Exactly - on a budget. I already have an i7 powered gaming PC, it's incredible. I just wanted something with 'enough' power to run emulators only. I'm not going to spend thousands to play Super Mario on a PC. I have spent a modest amount of cash on a decent setup that will be more than enough to do what i want to do.

I'm still going to carry on with it but i've asked ASSEMbler to close this thread, the constant 'bashing' of the hardware is starting to piss me off...

    totally lost interest.

I am not bashing, just constructive criticism. For the money, you could have gotten an air cooler that would perform better. If you wanted water (for what ever reason) over this - then you had a good choice.

Dude, it's THE INTERNET. People are going to disagree with your choices. Who cares.

If you didn't want people to comment, then why make a thread?

If you only wanted comments with gushing praise, then, well, I don't know really.

    People are entitled to opinions

    Grow thicker skin

Remember that your billion dollar choice is unaffordable to a normal person for has $60 for a stand alone cooler

i like this guy someone buy him a beer :)

water cooling is a bit overkill for an emulator system i thought but didn't comment earlier, still its cool and will do the job

    and a HD7770 for £50 is a bargain,

The water cooler in this thread is actually really cheap (price, not quality) - anyone could afford it. The point was, air coolers for the same/similar money perform better.

But if you just want water for the sake of having water - this is a good buy.

The main reason for the watercooler is because the CPU socket is right next to the pci express socket, there is limited space for a decent cooler. The stock Intel coolers are shite.

Ok, sorry I had a bad day yesterday so apologies for being hyper-sensitive. Anyway let’s get back on track.
I’m currently waiting for some cables and my SSD should be back from Corsair today. The system is pretty much built so I will hopefully have it up and running this week and test some emulators. I will post some pictures and a video when it’s ready…

Nice build, Ive been wanting to do a emulation/media box for a while now aswell, but at the moment just cant justify building yet another pc :)

Would have bought a identical setup except spent a bit more on and got a i5-3550k and a asrock z77-itx and overclocked it for PCSX2/Dolphin ,but thats just because my needs are different, and what your running a i3 would is perfect.

As for a control method, why not stick with a 360 reciever, but mod a wireless 360 controller into a nice diy arcade stick, with good quality buttons, that way you can switch between the arcade stick and pad, by simply resync-ing the controllers, and not need to do any further key remapping :)

yeah that would be good, could even use a wired one, but i'd highly recommend picking up one of them USB sega saturn pads, for playing the 6 button games like on megadrive/genesis or saturn , probably work nicely for the other 8 and 16 bit systems too. as 360 controllers are not too great for the 6 button mapping it just feels a bit off.

currently i use a cheap chinese joystick for them, and a 360 controller(Ghost Recon Future Soldier wired) for psx emu, i've also used an original XBOX big controller with the black and white buttons at the top right for the 6 button games which worked ok, but still not as good of an angle as the saturn / megadrive pads

just some friendly experience / advice

Well I can't find the opposite anyway. I've never seen an adapter to use xbox pads on saturn real hardware.

    Build looks nice!
I'm using a H60 on my i5-3470 and it cools it well enough.
Plus it's a bit easier to fit in a small case than some similar priced air cooler, and looks "cleaner" too, imho.
    :)
