Alright, its time to upgrade my server. I made it crash today, so its time to upgrade for sure, the current virtual cant handle the load. So I need reccomendations with stats, both bandwidth, HD space, and server specs, and the amount of the machine (If its virtual dedicated) I can use.

Do not go virtual dedicated. gamengai runs on VDS and I have frequent bottlenecks. Some of the pages slurp other webpages and it sucks the life out of apache. The issue is that *most* VDS packages come with all sorts of disk space, and about 256MB of a RAM which is a joke. My son wipes his ass with 256MB. Also, you don't know who you're sharing the machine with and in my case (GoDaddy) when you go dedicated or virtual dedicated, support also goes out the door. Tools to find out where your bottleneck is aren't the greatest either in virtual dedicated. My "machine" has never swapped, yet, I've waited for a minute for a page to load before.

The site has been getting better performance the last week or so with the same traffic. Likely someone that I'm sharing the machine with quit hosting horse porn or something.

Well I need to upgrade to something. I just have a plain old virtual server, and it died today. Granted, it was 100 people access videos, but still heh.

Hmm, well I host my main site at Brinkster. The server is fast, pages load pretty must instantly, support is good, loads of tools and options but a bit expensive. I host all my videos at Dreamhost. This place has shit loads of space and bandwidth and I do mean crazy amounts ! The problem is that for hosting a site it's pretty poor. Images take ages to load IF they do load and at times pages won't load. Yet for streaming stuff everything works like a dream. fast and more space and bandwidth than you'll ever need.

The problem isnt with bandwidth or HD space (Ive got a ton now), but rather, the ability to handle a load of people at once.

Brinkster should be able to sort you out there. Take a look at what packs they have to offer

Shared accounts oddly enough can handle more throughput than a site like mine. The benefits you get from VDS:
    -Shell account
    -Access from anywhere
-Do anything the fuck you want

If you just want to host a bit of videos and have people use them, just get a shared account with high bandwidth option.
