not sure, i dont own a ps3. But from what i know, orthodoxically it doesnt allow 3d on the RSX in linux mode
Good news for X360 owners. I hope Dead Rising & Lost Planet become multiplatform too. I agree with Shadowlayer, this resembles PS2 early days, with launch titles like Fantavision, Evergrace, Street Fighter EX3 or the offline only UT facing Dreamcast games like MSR, Soul Calibur, Quake 3, RE:CV or Shenmue. I think the release of Code:Veronica as a Dreamcast title was a far greater hit against Sony than the loss of DMC4 as this game will still come to PS3. As a gamer, what I'm really waiting for from PS3 are Sony's own titles from the ICO team, Santa Monica, etc... well, I'm waiting for MGS4 and FF too :icon_bigg pd: afaik right now you can't run copies on the PS3 (I'm not 100% sure)
False alarm: hackers managed to dump a PS3 game into the HDD using linux, but they couldnt run it... Anyway, a PS3 softmod in these early stages would sure be a fatal blow to sony, even worse than what it was for SEGA and the DC.
But it took forever for a softmod to happen to the GD Disks I thought for the DC? I mean that in relation to the age of the console. Also I don't think Lost Planet or Dead Rising will be ported..there sequels on the other hand are easily fair game.
You have a much different view of that era then me then. I seem to recall everyone and their mother, even people that didn't even know much about Sega, talking about how the DC was Sega's last console and blah blah blah. This even before the PS2 launched. Besides, things are a bit different now. First, the DC didn't have the same number of units out there as the 360 does now. Second, the PS2 price didn't make the casual consumer go "WTF!?" (at least I don't remember them reacting that way). Third, EA actually supports MS, unlike they did with the DC. Fourth, the DC didn't get anywhere near the same number of "big exclusives" as the 360 is getting. Fifth, Microsoft, unlike Sega, has a bit of sense and a big bank account. I don't see this as being anything at all like the PS2 launch. Sure, we, the "hardcore" gamers, clung to our Dreamcasts for dear life. But meanwhile, the casual market (read: the people that, sadly, determine a console's success) were eating up the BS hype Sony dished out for the PS2. Unlike now, where the PS3 is just a running gag for any and everybody except for the few clinging to their $600 investments.
Honestly I was pretty pissed with SEGA at the time, after the 32X and the Saturn, but when I saw in running in december 98 I couldnt deny that they were on the good track again Yes the PS2 wasnt even near as pricey as the PS3 is now, but the DC was already $149 which is half the MSRP of the PS2 (not like the X360 is today) but who can forget the hype that was around the PS2? it was even bigger than the Wii's... I doubt about the "sense" part since most MS stockholders think the Xbox is the worst idea ever and would like to see the division burn and the creators being shot in the head. The project has had MS bleeding money for the past 6 years, and only if the 3rd gen of the Xbox is a rampant sucess they will get most of the money back. I think SEGA went for a kamikaze ending: at the time of the DC launch the numbers were already red, so going for a new console was almost suicidal. On the other hand I always wondered why SEGA didnt launch a portable instead, to build some cash for the DC (since time wasnt a problem: sony was more than happy with the current PSone). Dunno maybe the fact that the GG couldnt beat the gameboy and that both the wonderswan and the NGpocket were loosing big time against the GBC made SEGA think they didnt had a chance in the portable market. Plus those were the pokemon days, and we all remember how many GBCs that crap put on the market...
i m not a big poke fan, but pokemon games on the GB/C weren't crap. They were fun. And they sold for that reason, too. Just like some people like FF.
I didnt meant the game (it was OK) but the whole media frenzy behind it. And BTW, I wouldnt compare pokemon to FF: those emo kids may look harmless but they can kick your ass while in bigger numbers:lol:
i second that. and I still appreciate the simplicity of the gameplay to be honest. FF has always got better story - that doesnt make it a fun game though for me.
