I know he had a lot of stuff, and his girlfriend was in charge of his stuff.

Did any of his stuff surface?

If I remember right, he only had a build of Bad Fur Day that was uncensored. Would love to be proven wrong :)

Nope. I knew him quite well although we never met. Importaku also knew him but he didn't receive any protos from what I know.

I want to go deeper into this, but it feels sorta wrong.

Really, if anyone should look into this, it's importaku. He was the one who was contacted by Nintendomad's mother after he had passed, so he's the one with the most likely starting point without being a complete stranger. But it's been years, so that might be awkward.

Short of that, someone find his girlfriend's contact and figure it out from there. I can't even find out his full name past Richard, so I can't really go any further myself. But it's still pretty touchy. My fiance has heard me go on about protos before and knows I wouldn't just give them to anybody. I'd think anybody's girlfriend would probably be protective of their partner's assets just the same.

If someone ever does find anything, though, let me know =) Regardless of price. I have a collector friend who would possibly help pitch in with me and make getting this thing a reality if there were actually something being offered eventually.

Just like anyone here I'd be interested in the Conker 64 proto (Twelve Tails or not) just I do agree with Bramsworth on this might be a bit touche.

Possible someone who was friends with them both on a board that is still in contact with his gf might be a good route too so it comes off less insensitive I guess?

Passing on the message that she (or the family) probably has a little cartridge sitting in a box somewhere that's worth a grand or a few seems like a kindness to me.

    True dat.

Anything's worth a try. I'm still unclear how anyone can be sure he had anything, though. He never publicly stated he bought the cart and it's just basically assumed due to him saying he wanted it real bad before, right? Or did he tell someone in PM he got it and that somehow became common knowledge? His post history definitely shows no signs he said he had it.

AFAIU, Kevin had pms discussions with him on some Ura Zelda project that didn't worked out, so I guess he knows for sure stuff we can only infere.

I'm also interested to know the story behind his death. I think it sure would be nice to contact his family to tell them they have a pot of gold sitting somewhere, but any attemp of taking advantage of their lack of knowledge about it would be shameful.

I know how he died but I think the subject should be dropped. All I'll say was that he was a great guy, loved his games but had fallen on to hard times and never got out it would seem.

There is a lot of conspiracy surrounding this. That Nintendo was monitoring these forums, et.c. That Nintendomad went underground. There was this supposed Zelda 64DD thread that was deleted. "Gone. We had pals watching. :crying:"

Here is the thread in question, in the "Unreleased Games" section:

    http://assemblergames.com/l/threads/zelda.21261/

Of course, only those directly involved know the whole story. I'm not trying to insinuate anything myself. Whatever he had, it's somewhere. Probably sold pretty quick.

source: countless comments and this vid, see 3:30.

Interested in hearing more about this. The Zelda 64 development process is one of my favourites and I'd love to hear more about the Ura project.

I can't imagine him selling anything he had after chasing it for years. And I'm assuming no sale happened of his assets after he passed, so I have to assume whatever he had is still somewhere with family.

I believe that had there been anything worth-while, it would have surfaced. I believe that it is best that we go with what his friends would have wanted, as they knew him best. I trust in his friends to have done what was best both for the community and for the grieving family. Furthermore, supposing any valuable protos exist, are located, and are still in the possession of his family, there is the chance that they would want far too much for whatever it is. Consider the fact that people have been waiting for these protos since his death and far before - that means a high demand, which demands a high price. I believe that enough time has passed for the process of asking to not come off as rude, but I still don't think it should be anyone's decision to ask beyond those who were close to him. Remember, this human lost his life, his friends lost a friend, his family lost family. There are things that are bigger than games, and this is obviously one of them.

edit: removed illogical and under thought opinion

    Well said.

Plus I like to think that whatever he had, it wasn't the only copy out there that exists or will ever surface.

Here's hoping someone figures out the story behind all of this, but in the meantime there are other things to obtain.
