Tha was for an old April fool's joke for EGM. The reason I know that was I though it was real back then.

 

Is there any chance of any pics of your U64 mockup ASSEMbler? Would be great to see a comparison between it and a final unit to see if there are any minute differences (Much like your U64 controller comparison a while back which was awesome :nod: )

 

I'm pretty sure that the only difference is the U64 badge on the front.

To give a literal answer, that was an egm april fools joke. I admit when I went the site I felt really had. Forgot it was the april issue when I read it.

 

I remember pictures of this. it was pretty big and hinged up like a laptop with a small screen AND the cart slot on the top side, controllers on the bottom side.


does that sound like the one you remember? I dunno if I still own all my old super play mags but I'll have a rummage for them tomorrow.

Has anyone seen it live?

 

The one I would like to see is the Taito Wowow, apart from one or two pictures from a magazine, nothing else seems to exist.

Also been nice to see if Namco ever did design a console around the late 80s, I am sure I read on a Japanese website that it was based on a stripped System 1 arcade board.

 

Oh yes. I remember that. It was to be a download system plus run games from CD. A bit like the current gen really :thumbsup: I remember ASSEMbler did a paint mod on a Turbo Duo to resemble the WoWoW.
