So I am clearing out all of my gaming stuff, and I found this. I got it a long time ago but never used it. Its a PAL xbox, and this I believe is a region free mod. Anyone got any details? Thanks.
Thanks mate. Any idea on function? Just standard region free if its set to Enable/Unprotected I guess?
Protect / Unprotect has to do with the chip itself, whether it is write-protected or not. Basically, set it to unprotected if you want to flash a new BIOS to the chip. Bank 1 and 2 is where you can have two different BIOS loaded, depending on the switch position. Enable and Disable turns it on and off.
Also it's not just region free but also has homebrew support and can play games from hdd or burned dvd's
Just sell it locally. Xbox systems (even modded) aren't worth much these days. Probably not worth the cost to ship.
They go for around $50+ modded here. You can't sell it on eBay since it's modified, and will get pulled if someone is a cunt and reports it. I've gotten away with it twice but the third time someone reported me for the fun of it. So sell it locally would be your best, hassle free bet.
This is why its helpful to have your location in your profile. Prices vary across the world. In the UK, its worth almost nothing.
Pre-modded consoles are scarce enough from conventional outlets in the states as it is. If PAL forget about it.
Yeah, im in the UK and its PAL.. I guess ill just try and get a tenner for it locally, and if not... hate to say it, but trash? ;p
If its actually a X2.6, you would probably get more by removing the chip and selling that on its own.
Trash? Not at all. If you just want to play games, replace the PAL MS dash with the NTSC MS dash. If you want to use it as a media + emulator box get the latest build of XBMC and set that to auto boot. XBMC is great for playing back MP3s, pics, Internet radio, DVD rips, etc. You can stream most content direct from you PC on the same network. You can even use a smartphone w/a web browser as a media remote. It also makes a great emulator box.
Aye I think that's originally what I got it for, but just never had the time to get into it. Sent you a PM mate.
