That is the link, I uploaded the ROM directly to NintendoAge.

It's an unreleased NES ROM that was not the result of a fundraiser, most people aren't going to to be bothered.

That's the link to the page, which nowhere has the link for a download on it. Which I'm assuming means, they hide their downloads from people that haven't been signed in. So I, like ASSEMbler, am not going to register just to download a game.

Wow, you have a rather impressive collection of prototypes.

I think the translation of what Kev said is "if you want to advertise on my site, please provide a link to a direct download that doesn't require registration." You can understand that he's concerned that it's a way to get people to sign up for an external site, although nobody's saying you'd do it for that reason, of course!

Anyway, thanks for the share... for those of us who can find it! ;)

For me, I saw it like that kid who gets free ice cream, but then complains that there is "Only vanilla. Yuck!"

I released an unreleased game and then mentioned it in the unreleased subforum. If I could host it here, I would have. I'm sorry I didn't give away the ROM in a way that makes everyone happy.

You can release it here since it was never released, will never be released, and its retro as hell.

Ive registered and still dont see any download. So I assume you need a certain post count?

Why not just upload it somewhere and post a link here as well?

No minimum post count, the link is at the bottom of my first post. Einstein posted a link above anyway, so you shouldn't have a problem.

You could have hosted it on any file sharing site, as well you know. You chose not to, instead advertising another forum that you knew we would have to sign up for in order to download the file. Indeed, you could have both linked to the forum AND provided a file, but didn't.

People don't always want to sign up for a forum just to download a file. It's great that you chose to offer this to people and fair enough, you chose a forum through which you'd do so. However, advertising on other people's forums knowing that it means you're getting sign-ups for the other forum is a bit much.

Incidentally, the sign-up method for that forum is the most stupid that I have ever seen. The captcha doesn't show that there are two words with a space, and the required date of birth (none of their business, really - fair enough they have an age restriction, but a tick box confirming you're of age would have been as much proof as entering a DOB) is a stupid pop-up calendar. The form then invalidates the captcha because you didn't include a space, which was in no way apparent, and blanks the date of birth field! That, and it chooses a password for you - always the more annoying kind of sign-up.

    *EDIT*

Oh, by the way, you COULD have uploaded it here - see the file upload manager at the bottom of the posting options.

I released Time Trax 3 weeks ago, exactly the same way, and received exactly 0 complaints:

    http://www.assemblergames.com/forum...rax-(Genesis)-rom-available-for-free-download!!!

I didn't think this would be any different. I was mistaken.

As far as your gripes with NintendoAge, take it up with them? I have no connection with the site (not a mod/admin/affiliate), so I can't say I can do much with your issues. I love the place and consider it a home base of sorts, but that's it. This was not some elaborate plan to get people to sign up there, though if some did and enjoy it, so much the better.

Your point about uploading here is valid, and I was unaware that was an option. My apologies. With Einstein's link, it's also irrelevant at this point, but noted.

In the meantime, hope people enjoy the ROM I released for free for anyone to dl! It's barely even a proof of concept, but hopefully people can appreciate what could have been if the game had been followed through to the end.

You people are all insane. Here's the correct response to this thread:

THANK YOU, MrMark0673, for freely releasing a previously unreleased NES game, and thanks for the continued releases you have been making.

People like to complain. Thanks Mark for all you've done for these things, some of us really do appreciate it.

That link points to the site you released it on, which also happens to have a direct link to the file, which you dont need to be registered to see/use. Its not exactly the same at all :)
