Another controversial one: Shinobi III on Genesis. Must've played through Revenge of Shinobi at least 50 times, but just finished Shinobi III once and never touched it again. (How awesome was fighting against Batman/Spiderman?!!) synrgy87, I guess we can relax the rules to include games that only appeared on Sega systems, like Toe Jam and Earl.
Do we count the Sega CD as a console? If so, *shudders*. And besides "every sonic game after 1, hurrr hurr", 3D Blast was pretty lackluster. Outrun had some ridiculous sequels too, before Outrun 2 came out in like 2004. Oh, and Altered Beast. The PS2 sequel/remake.
Phantasy Star II without the 3D dungeons was a let down for me. But don't get me wrong, I love that game rs.
lol, was more of an add-on than a seperate console like the 32x as you cant use them without a megadrive/genesis, would have been better system if they actually knew what they were doing with CD-ROM software back then lol
Sega CD did have my favorite sonic game, though: Sonic CD. And I think one other game was decent on there... was Sega CD's Final Fight the one closest to the arcade version from that generation?
I actually kinda like the 32X, at least its library didn't consist almost solely on FMV games *shudders again*. Those honestly aged worse than PS1 polygon games, though I'm not sure they were ever great to begin with.
Sega CD had a lot of good stuff. Sonic CD, both Lunar games, Vay, Popful Mail, Final Fight CD, the definitive version of Earthworm Jim, Shining Force CD, Keio Flying Squadron, Android Assault, Robo Aleste, Lords of Thunder, Sol-Feace, Soul Star, Silpheed, Rise of the Dragon, etc.
wasn't throwing any hate on the 32x just saying it was more of an add-on than a stand alone console like the sega/mega-CD
Fair enough, I'm just used to everyone using the thing as a butt of jokes. Not to say I think it was a good idea to release an add on with a completely separate library of games like 6 months before the next console launched, but the 32X was nowhere near as bad as people have said.
Every Alex Kidd Game after Miracle World. Blatent cash in's. Though the MD version was more true to the original it still wasn't that good.
Curious, is there a such thing as a combination CD/cartrdige game that requires both the Sega CD and 32X?
Don't think so. I think Pier Solar is the only cart game that can use the Sega CD for better soundtrack. Anyway some Sega CD games were released as "Sega CD 32X" and used 32X extra capabilities. The list, according to SegaRetro; http://segaretro.org/Sega_Mega_CD_32X
Actually, that's what I was really wondering, but figured you might have to plug in some dummy cartridge to get it to work. Didn't realize they could harness the 32X straight from the Sega CD without a cartridge. Hope that makes sense.
I gotta disagree with you guys about the NiGHTS sequel, I really enjoyed it. But I never had the chance to play the original back when it first came out, I didn't get a saturn with a copy until around 2005.
