Recently got a Japanese 360 demo kit which includes a DVD R in the tray of Disney Infinity footage. The game is also on the Hard Drive but I can't get past the title screen as it asks for the Disney Infinity Base to be connected, whatever that is. The game can't be accessed from the standard dash so I. Wondering if it's a beta build. The games file size is 21.55MB dated 5/2/2013. Take a look at @RetroCoreYakumo's Tweet: https://twitter.com/RetroCoreYakumo/status/806861002620866560?s=09 Here's some screen grabs from the DVD-R that was in the console. Please remember that I've never played the original game or was even aware of it so I don't know how different these are from the final.
At 21.55MB, I doubt its anything really, it would have probably connected to an internal build located on a server of some kind and played it over network. Its always awesome to find content on a kit though! Cool to see.
Maybe just the main executable is 21MB? The reason I think this is because the unit is meant to have a 120GB hard drive yet there's only just over 4GB left on it. The demo files for the development stuff come to under 1 GB so I'm wondering where all the hard drive space is. Looking at the consoles retail dash there are no games installed or any extra apps or music. Also, it wouldn't play Japanese retail discs. It thought it was a DVD. Is this normal? I know nothing about these units.
Hi Mark, i think its only the xex file with 21mb. Your kit dont play retail discs thats correct, you can convert images for running on the kit from HD for example. If you want access to the hdd, looking for a leaked sdk, for Neighborhood. Leave me a pm if you need help with anything. regards Chris
Great find! Like @Jackhead said this is possibly just the xex but it could be a demo build or might need a server to launch as mentioned above. It's very likely there is other data on the drive I suggest not moving/deleting/adding anything to this drive as it's possible that last 4GB might contain another deleted build. Doing so could wipe any data that can be saved. It's a right pain to recover but worth it if it's something special. I recently spent 26 hours working on a drive and ended up with two new crackdown alpha builds a month before the one that has already been leaked. (To be released soon. ) I think @Borman would be glad to help you and provide you with the needed tools. You will need the SDK as Jackhead said above. Good luck! Hoping there's more stuff on this drive.
Put xexmenu in the content folder 0000000000 . Load it up and see what else is on the harddrive by pressing RB once. You tryed that ?
Thanks for the feedback guys. While I love my Xbox 360 elite system and know quite a bit about it and it's games, I know nothing about these beta test/dev units so the more help the better Im pretty tied up until Sunday but will be contacting Borman for assistance with this. For the time being here's a photo of the box the unit came in. I was kind of surprised to receive the original packing. Sadly all the company names have been removed but I guess it's most likely from a Disney Studio in Japan. I'll grab a few screen shots from the DVD-R that's in the drive tonight once I return home and post them here.
This is a very bad idea. Adding anything to the Hard Drive can overwrite any deleted builds that may remain on the system. One of the worst things you can do really. The 4GB that's empty may even contain an unreleased game. Very nice! Glad you asked Borman for help. He's helped me alot with my XDK issues. That disk that was in the drive, Assuming you're Windows user you can use DVDisaster (http://dvdisaster.net/en/index.html) to clone it. This will save any data incase any damage happens to the disk.
What a great find. Looking forward to hearing more about what is found. Me and my kids play infinity all the time.
Okay, my brother has picked me up an Infinity base station for Christmas. I'll pick that up on my trip to the UK in 10 days time. I'll be back in Japan around January 10th so I'll jump back on to this project then. I'll also be looking at finding what is on the HDD in January with some help I hope. It's a 120GB HDD with a max of 5 GB of dev software. That's it! Where on earth is the rest of the space? The console states there is only 4GB left on the drive. Obviously there's some hidden data on there.
You can't view deleted data with the 360 itself. You have to remove the HDD and connect it to a PC etc, The data (if any) can take over 24 hours to recover as only 1 tool keeps original filenames currently and only allows you to recover 1 file at a time.
Deleted data is still there, It shows free space but if you know how the data that was deleted can be recovered. I got an XeDK and XDK from Realtime Worlds a few months back. Both showed 60GB free yet the one I kept contained 2 deleted builds that I recovered in full. The 360 itself couldn't recover these but my PC could. It took 26 hours to recover two 3GB builds. Adding new data though will wipe that deleted data making recovery impossible. Same apply's with a PC, If you delete something it's still there until new data overwrites it.
Very interested to see if youve any update on this, the menus look different to the final release (i played it a lot) and would love to see more if possible
I now have a base station but have yet to try it. The 360 demo u it has been in its box since December. I will eventually get around to checking it out though.
