I'm thinking of buying a Super Famicom and I'm wondering if US cartridges fit inside PAL/JAP cartridge cases? So that I won't need to cut up the console casing or buy a 32X-style mushroom adapter to play US games Also, is it enough to use a EU SNES power adapter to power an SFC?
Yes the PCB shape fits in either style case. The power adapter I'm not sure about and you must be very careful. The SFC wants something like 10V DC, Center Negative. So long as your power adapter can output 10V (or 9V is ok) with Center Negative and providing 850ma or more of amperage, you should be ok. Hopefully someone in a PAL territory can respond with better certainty.
PAL Snes PSU's are AC. Either polarity DC adapter will work on a PAL snes as it has a rectifier in it. Dont know about the SFC, but if it wants DC like the US one - dont use a PAL snes adapter on it.
The SFC is just like the US SNES - it takes DC, 9-10V, -ve center - and it gets very upset if you try and run it from AC.
Right EU SNES adapter is the same as US NES, infamous to Americans for slaughtering other systems. NTSC SNES import adapters are just scarce. Instantly recognizable by no lockout pins. http://porroe.blogspot.com/2007/12/game-accessories-part-2-super-adaptor.html
Not quite, the inside of the tip on the console end is slightly bigger on both the PAL NES and PAL SNES than it is on the NTSC NES.
That's good to know. So then I'll be able to keep my US SNES games in an SFC appropriate format. Thanks alot for the PSU info, thanks to that and google I found a local shop that sells european SFC PSUs (for about €5). @Bad_Ad84, TriMesh & ApolloBoy Yeah, after the info Mottzilla shared I found out that you need a custom PSU, which can be easily attained Thanks for adding to the knowledge. @Lum Yeah, no offence, but there's no way I'm buying such a monstrosity. I rather cut a bigger hole in the SFC. But I won't since I'll just be putting the NTSC PCBs inside PAL/JAP worthless-shitgame cartridges.
