I don't want to waste like five thousand dollars just to play one game, so I am waiting for the XBOX version. It shold be just as good, if not better :smt067 :no I love this emoticon :no
Xbox version better? First of all it has surprising low system requirements compared to games like Farcry and second for less than a 1000 you could get a high end gfx card, Athlon 64 and mobo, and a new HD or some high end ram if you need it. Now onto the Xbox version... It will run at a much lower resolution and the graphic detail will certainly be lower. Xbox Live will certainly take away from the online play (if the port has it) as there probably won't be player made levels, mods etc.
Re: Xbox version better? Well, the five thousand dollar statement was exaggeration, but I would have to buy a new PC just to play this one game. I think I will just wait for the fifty dollar XBOX version.
Re: Xbox version better? Sorry to say, but you don't need to spend much money. I played doom 3 on my craptacular machine rgiht here. 1Ghz Pentium 3, 650mb SDRAM Geforce 4MMX 64mb Runs it fine (as in, more than playale, but not completly shite graphics). Looks just as good as the shots of the Xbox version. Loading times are a bitch though, to be honest.
Re: Xbox version better? Now we will see who has the crappier machine, My PC, 500 MHz AMD-K6 192 MB of RAM ATI Rage 128 Pro Ha ha, I win :-D
It wasn't about who has the crappier machine, but showing how little you need to play the game. You can buy a machine better than mine for about £300 these days.
Do you people not know a joke when you see one? Any way, I would rather pay $50 for an XBOX game than 300 GBP to upgade my PC for the same game. BTW, those are my system specs after I made upgrades. I would have to buy a new case and motherboard if I wanted a faster CPU, and if I wanted to go Higher than 700 MB of RAM, and I would probably need a new graphics card.
£300 is for an entire new machine, case, monitor, all peripherals and shite. You can get 'em for less if you drop all the extras. And if that is your PC speed currently then its probably worth laying down some cash on a new PC soon anyway. Remember, paying the £300 wouldn't just let you play doom3, it would let you play lots of other new PC titles coming out ^_^
I know I need a new PC, very badly. However, money is my biggest issue. While 300 GBP may not seem like much to you (I don't know how much that is in dollars except that it is way more) it seems like a lot to me. So, while I would love a new PC, right now I just can't.
Glad to hear you are getting a new PC. My parents keep telling me "You need to get a job". I have been trying, but still no luck, and now that school has started again, I am going to have less time. Oh well.
