If I take a PS1 that where the FMVs skip a little, and I increase the voltage enough so that it doesn't skip, did I just decrease the total life of the laser?

    Thanks!

If you're adjusting a potentiometer, I'm pretty sure that you're actually increasing the current, rather than the voltage, and yes it'll shorten its lifetime a little. But if you're about to throw it out, the effective lifetime is increased!

Yes, it reduces the life of the laser diode. It's difficult to predict how by how much, since it heavily depends on how efficient the diode was in the first place.
