I rented it the other day and I don't like it very much. First of all, it doesn't look or feel like the original game. The aesthetic is quite different (to me) and the way the game plays is somewhat different too. Beyond the fact that it's different, is it good on its own? Personally, I don't think so. I don't think it's a bad game per se, it just doesn't grab my attention and make me want to play it like the original DKC did, or at all for that matter. I've played all 4 of the games you mentioned, Princess-Isabela, and the only one that I really enjoyed was Super Mario Galaxy 2. Kirby was okay, but too easy.
