I can't say I've even heard of them movies, let alone saw them. Are they both new? They probably never came out over here or if they did they were very low key. Yakumo
The Rock was actually the best part of "Be Cool". I have no real problem with him acting in the movie, but Doom is about demons from hell. If there are no demons from hell, well then it isn't fucking doom then, is it?
wait, wait wait wait! if it is not Doom, then it's not a portage of a video game to movie, and if it's not a video game ported to a movie, then there's some little chances it won't be shit. Substract the fact that it's an american blockbuster production (wich means hollywood, wich means shit), that it will be full of one linners and ''cool'' things to attract the kids, and that there's the rock in it, though. ...ormaybe i'm just trying to look intelligent with some kind of theory no one ever tought :smt043 i still think mario bros is the worst video game to movie project never created though.
Yes, yes you are..........kidding........ But as some one mentioned before, one of the rocks movies, walking tall is pretty good, if you like your 80's cheese fest....to me it reminded me of Road House with patrick swazee (what ever).......I found it enjoyable, full of one liners but johny Knoxville stole the show, the guy is funy in every scene even after having his arse kicked.....worth a rent or a cheap ebay buy.
To be honest, The Rock is building up a decent bit of credibility in my mind as a serious actor. Now if it were that meathead Vin Diesel, you KNOW the movie would be, pardon the pun, Doomed. And Tekaotaku's scenario for the idea Doom movie was good, but why not just sit with the original game's story line? Marine is stationed on a Union Aerospace Corporation/military base on Mars, where teleportation technology is being tested between Mars and the base on Mars' moon, Demios. There's an accident, Demios (or was it Phobos? It's been so long...) vanishes, and all manner of hellspawn make short work of everyone in the base, aside from said marine. That could be compressed into the first 45 minutes of film, with the last hour and 15 minutes being spent on fighting his way out, possibly finding some comrades/survivors, and culminating in a showdown with the Spider Mastermind or the Cyberdemon. See?? I didn't even break a mental sweat thinking that up! Why is it so hard for filmmakers to remain even remotely faithful to the source material??
Thanks, it took me all off two mins to think of it up........but like you say, even the original story to doom could be padded out for a feature lenth movie....in all honesty its gonna be a sit and wait movie, if its crap, DL it........
I might see the movie, or download or rent it when it comes out on DVD just to see how well the Rock performs in it. He was actually quite funny in the Rundown. I haven't seen Be Cool, yet, but I plan to. If the Rock is in the movie then there are bound to be moments in the movie that might be worth watching if you're even a small Rock fan. At least he's an actor you can easily recognize. oh and Assembler, WingCommander holds the crown for the worst movie based off of a videogame series, don't you never forget that ;-).
I dunno, Super Mario Bros. was pretty bad... didn't Wing Commander at least feature Mark Hamill and Malcom McDowell in it? (actors from the game series for those who don't know.)
