http://pc.gamespy.com/pc/doom-3/534683p1.html?fromint=1 :smt040 :smt040 rayer: :smt119 :smt119 AND I CAN'T BUY IT because it's not within my budget
Consider the source tho - Gamestop company computers, the same ones that said Doom 3 was originally out April 16th or something and Halo was June 1st. It's still August 3rd/4th.
I will wait for the Xbox version thank you very much, I love console ports because I dont have to stop my *cough*bittorrent*cough* downloads everytime I wanna play a game
It seems a store in Madison, USA made a mistake and started selling the game today, instead of next week. http://www.forumplanet.com/planetdoom/topic.asp?fid=8326&tid=1435257 http://homepage.mac.com/ablack6596/PhotoAlbum19.html http://photobucket.com/albums/v373/supervillainx/
I think that picture is a fake ^_^ If it had goen on sale already then it would be on Suprnova already. Oh, and don't think I am a pirate games bitch....I just want to try the game out befor eI get my new PC the week after (with which I am going to purchase the full Doom3 and play on full spec :smt023 )
Cracking games is not always an easy job. And I'm sure iD put a lot of effort on making better protections for Doom 3.
Besides, look at this thread: http://www.forumplanet.com/planetdoom/topic.asp?fid=2308&tid=1435345 It was not only 1 store that started selling it. There are many of them
Yeah, but you'd expect the people who rip the games to put it up for download and then put up the completed patch later (so as to save time for the downloaders). Or at least I've noticed that a few times ^_^ And on a side note, I am aware of the apparent Doom3 Mannual on Suprnova. I guess if I tell myself this is all faked it means I won't get jealous if anyone does actually have the game ^_^
I don't think the picture above is fake. When I was the games manager of HMV Liverpool we used to get new released games in stock sometimes a week before the release date. If you wanted to sell them you had to make up a fake barcode so that the computer would not recognize the item being sold and just put it down as a refund. Later when the game would be officially for sale these so called refunds are just fed back in to the computer as the actual game. Takes a bit of messing about but it is possible for high-store shops to sell games ahead of release. If caught though they get in to some major shite. Yakumo
Same at the video store I work at. We get the movies in on friday before their tuesday release date. If a store breaks the date what will happen most of the time is they will no longer get their shipments early and will have their merchendise shipped out on the release date meaning they'll have to wait a few days and miss out on the first day sales. I've heard of companies being fined but it doesn't happen much.
It gets annoying though, I mean to stock in advance like that, however game stores seem to work differently, they usually go down to the airport to go pick up shipment then bring it back for sale. That is why gamestop and eb sell their stuff a day later then offical release. Been there when it's happen so thats what i know, I hear the fine is huge for selling it ahead of schedual. Can you imagine how sweet it must of been owning that beavis and butt'head set that paramount recallled, pays to be there early. In fact that price tag is a best buy tag.
Jealousy meter pinging off the scale. Those asshats. How dare they have Doom 3 early!!!!!!! :smt076 :smt076 :axe:
Yep, its actually supposed to be floating "out there" uncracked, we will see! The sad part is, im cheap and will probably wait until its in the back of the store under the $4.99 rack :/
It's available on the net, just finished playing it for 30 orso minutes, my first impressions are: Damn what a game, looks super cool (even on lowest settings) ,great scarry/spooky atmosphere (actually it scared the shit out of me on 2-3 times thus far). Good story running throughout the game thusfar, it has a HL-ish feel over it. (story unfolding wise not gameplay wise ) The bad thing is even on lowest res with all the bling-bling off it still doens't run entirely smooth on my pc :smt022 Btw i'm running an amd athlon xp2000+ (1667mhz)( 512 mb ram and a GF4 TI4200 64 mb card just to give an idea of what you need to run the game on lowest settings and still have it choke down to 10 fps from time to time. :smt022 Update: Disabled some more light effects and bump mapping, game now runs smootly. And man is this game scary not for the faint of heart :smt023
Full specs Hate to burst your bubble but the highest setting are intended for 512mb graphics cards so unless you have ALOT of RAM to compensate you are going to run into slowdown.
Actually iD did permit SOME of the stores to sell them. Thats why Best Buy store number 59 started selling Doom3 early as well as some others.
