Despite being a shameless nintendo fan all these years I must admit that the PC has housed some amazing games, even back when I had the N64!

If you do get to playing older games I strongly recommend Dark Earth by Microprose. Don't forget it, seriously, it's great.

Games that gave me hours of joy:

    Doom,
    Doom2,
    Blood, Blood2:The Chosen,
    Heretic 1 and 2,
    Hexen and Hexen 2
    Duke Nukem 1, 2 and 3D
    Tomb Raider 2
    Carmageddon 2
    Worms
    Most of LucasArts adventure games
Some of Sierra's, including Larry and Space Quest
    F-22 Raptor
    Terminal Velocity
All sim cities, including streets of sim city
    Time Commando
Prince of Persia 1 and 2

well that's what comes to mind right now, i m sure there's tons more.oh and MDK!!!

    - Grand Prix 2
    - Jane's Combat Simulations: Advanced Tactical Fighters
    - Fifa International Soccer (the first one, that was also on the MegaDrive)

And probably others i forgot right now.

I've been playing PC & consoles synchronously since my inception into our fabulous species. NES & 286 days basically. Those who have "fanboyed" to one side or the other have missed out big time! But these days that's not so much the case anymore with how all the platforms are kinda merging into a big copycat FPS orgy smorgasbord. Uhg. :)

Dune 2, I didn't get that until after C&C and it was tough to get into it because C&C's controls and gameplay are incredibly better. I did play the original Dune game too! That has some RTS gameplay as well.

Otherwise I was big into sci-fi sims and strategy. X-Com, X-Wing, Master of Orion, MechWarrior2, WingCommander, Doom, etc etc. Tons of games. I'm sure you guys have a huge list of oldie favs like me. :)

Some old favorites of mine that I haven't seen mentioned:

"Welltris", a sort of 3D Tetris variant by Alexey Pajitnov and crew
"Tank Wars", the original "tanks on a hill shooting at each other" game
"Wonderland", a text adventure based on "Alice". Also check out "Guild of Thieves" by the same publisher (Magnetic Scrolls)
"Utopia", a sort of SimCity-in-space game with an off-map enemy alien city you have to battle. It's not really as good as SimCity 2000 or anything, but I was obsessed with it

And slightly before my time, the "Wizardry" games which I love. I played them on NES/SNES but they were originally for computers.

Great game. Used to spent lots of time making new tracks.

The original Indy500 was also great!

    OMG!
I used to play a 3D Pacman game that was AWESOMOOOOOOOOOO

I was too little to even remember the name of the game, I used to play it in my dad's computer, and the screen was green and black... Gosh I miss those days!

Later I got an Atari 2600 with two games: Galaga and Olympic Winter Games (dull one)

You want the Crusader series. There are so many ways to kill people in those games... They really need a modern remake.

I really really don't remember

In any case, I was around 3 or 4 years old and I had a BLAST with that game....

Then I got my Atari 2600 with Galaga, and well, I was just MASTER OF MY DOMAIN in that game....

The XWing series which includes X Wing and Tie Fighter, probably my favorite games of that pc gaming boom from the late 80s, early 90s.
