Hey guys, some of you may know the great Salamander anime from the late 80's. Sadly there are only some Japanese VHS tapes of this gem available and they go for a pretty high price. Even worse is of course that they are apparently with Jpn. audio only... On the 26th of November, Gradius Home World posted a subbed version of the entire anime series!! The catch is, the files are hosted on the magnet torrent system (right?) and I can't seem to find a way to download them w/out installing fucked up Limewire of which I am even uncertain if it runs on Snow Leopard. I have been on the lookout for subs of this anime for a long time and would be very grateful if anyone could tell me how to download them. Here are the links: ep. 1: magnet:?xt=urn:btih:VI5A4KNBDI5E42DEM2YZWNUOW2273ENC ep. 2: magnet:?xt=urn:btih:CPC377WQR3NNUTLNURZGDNPPUIV2UZVR ep. 3: magnet:?xt=urn:btih:66WVNXQFVCNCJFFPVIE6JZQMZWIIHZDF (c) Gradius Home World These are fan subtitles and the original video tapes were sold more than 20 years ago plus had only a low print run. You can watch a 5min extract of the 3rd episode HERE. It features among many other things a dramatikkuna Gradius II stage 2 boss battle ("Shoot the eye!").
µTorrent (it is portable) will work. I've just tested it via Opera web browser and it began dl within 10-15 seconds. http://www.utorrent.com/downloads/ It is strange because the first time I tested those links by selecting File>Add torrent from URL it didn't come up. Now it does.
Yeah µTorrent will work. I downloaded them myself not long ago....wouldn't necessarily say its great, but still interesting to watch.
Just tested it with uTorrent, but I've got the same problem you had. I entered the url w/out "http://" prior to the link and vice-versa, but it won't show up. "magnet:?xt=urn:btih:VI5A4KNBDI5E42DEM2YZWNUOW2273ENC" is what I enter. Anything I'm doing wrong? @oli_lar It doesn't seem to be too exceptional even in the short 5mins that could be seen on the page I linked too (very repetitive), but for the sake of original Salamander/Gradius music and the visualization of bosses I need to watch it anyway
I use Bit Torrent which will work with magnet torrent files. Actually I own the British Esat to West (or was is Western Connections release?) video releases of Salamanda. The bummer is that they are in my UK home. They are subbed too which is a plus! There are only 2 tapes with each having 2 episodes. Yakumo
Ah I remember Jonathan Clements who translated these, translated Gradius as Ladius as he didn't know about the game but knew about a sword of the name. You'll think a professional translator would check these things... It was released by Western Connection.
Just finished downloading the files, but not using the magnet links (couldn't get this working... just wouldn't pop up as torrent files). I'm by far the most excited about the Gofer no Yabou episode, though the others seem kinda entertaining. Nothing too exciting though, guess I'll have to give it a shot now that they're here ^^
