I've always thought the Sony pads were great. They were always my 2nd favorite, behind Saturn. Maybe it's because I've played more PlayStation than any other console, but the d-pad just feels the most responsive to me. I would also prefer to use the d-pad instead of the analog stick, unless the game really required 360 degree controls (geometry wars...). That said, I don't think I would like this Dreamcast controller. Based on the handles, it seems like you'd have to crank your thumbs up a bit to get to the buttons. It's also super wide.
I don't get the hate around here for the Dual Shock controllers, I've always liked them. The D-Pad is also still world better then on the 360 (or Gamecube), which I find to be almost unusable even for basic menu navigation.
hm, i got an (original) xbox controller (the giant one, not the S one) and its okay, i got a 360 controller for my PC and its okay, i got a few PS controllers (digital, dualshock 1 and 2s) and theyre okay. i wonder why some feel more comfortable with the xbox ones...
I always liked Sony's controller and never found any real faults with it. Nintendo's controllers on the other hand went to shit after the SNES in my opinion. The N64 was ok I guess but I hated both the GC and Wii controller. As for Sega I cant really understand the worship some people have for the Saturn controller. Sure it is a good controller but it is not without its faults. First off it is just too small. At least too small for six buttons on the face. Second the D-pad is just too sharp. It always bites into my fingers. Finally and worst of all I think is that It just feels hollow and cheaply made. Whenever I am using one it creeks and I always feel like I could snap it in two. It needs some heft to it like the original three button genesis controller. That controller always felt like it was built like a tank to me,
Playstation D-pad stabs my thumb, Playstation 2 was a lot softer but I always use the sticks when I can. Best d-pad for me was the Gamecube's.
