helder Ok so I placed and order and I hope Helder sees this to clear some stuff up. I placed an order with OSHPark and three was the smallest order. So I got three and the two parts he mentioned. So I'm trying to ask when the three arrive how would one approach this mod. https://oshpark.com/shared_projects/0LuuKNMz
That has to be test fitted onto the console and I have to make another board to connect a ribbon connector with the ide socket. Still a work in progress and put it out there for Bensen87 who kept bugging me about it. I wanted to be 100% sure it fit and more than likely will get a new redesign to better organize the traces. I'll have to stop sharing it so people don't buy it thinking it's fully tested and working. You're free to test it for placement and anything else you might want inplemented. Ultimately it would work best as a flexible pcb so it can be easier to solder to the DC motherboard.
Yea was not much money and I thought something else was not there. Reguardless I have a few test subjects. Can't wait to see the final and your VGA board.
Oh do tell what is the extras? replacement bios using the test points? Lack of time and interest have made this a project I will likely not revisit in some time so maybe Bad_Ad will have something out before myself.
I based my design off of the image floating around from OzOne but I remember reading somewhere( can't find or remember where) that certain points had to be tied high for this to work because of the GDRom being there. Do you anything about that?
I like the sound of having the bios mod in there as well, hopefully crack the Holly protection down the road. Qsb for ide is a dream for us, no expensive gdemu and no spaghetti coming out of the DC.
I guess I can revisit this in the next few weeks after some other projects get completed, unless Bad_Ad has something in the works ready to go. My project is around 70% done but would definitely need some info on what I mentioned above about having the GDRom along with the IDE mod co-exisitng and functioning properly. Ultimately I would love a flex pcb design but that shit is expensive and not sure I have the funds to go that route but we will see when I get to that point.
The HD needs to be set to slave and it works great for me. A tidy solution for a HD. Doesn't have to include the bios mod could be separate addon board. I sent you a message helder
Helder i have an idea that i want to try with you ide QSB can you share the gerber files ?? to be honest i have lots of idea but im not very good with pcb software i try to learn but its hard.
I left the files in another thread for anyone to play with. http://assemblergames.com/l/threads...-rom-hdd-replacement.60458/page-4#post-883003
