Can someone please find me the quote about one of the representatives of Sega saying, Sega didn't care about Dreamcast games being burned. I swear i read this couple of years back.

I might have been a video i can't remember. It was probably 2-3 years ago.

I know if i read it online, then someone else has been bound to have seen it as well.

    Thanks,
    Chi kitory

Well, it won't be legal, regardless of what a representative may have said.

Sure it's legal - the only illegal part would be the duplicating of copyrighted data. So feel free to copy anything you have the legal rights to. Of course, if a Sega-copyrighted boot sector or something like that is required to boot (dunno, don't have a DC), you're screwed...

Still, I'd like to see that quote, too. An official repesentative saying all of Sega doesn't care about copies? If he really did, I'm pretty sure he had to clean out his desk soon after.

It amazes me how naive people can be about the nature of copyright law. As though one offhand comment from a Sega employee could suddenly strip all ownership rights to each game from every developer and publisher on the entire system.

"Not illegal" and "nobody is going to go after you" are two very, very different propositions.

i just want the article were he said "Sega doesn't care" practically. Not to justify my burnings, but to prove its out there.

Even still, to do the research properly, you would have to go higher up the chain of command, to someone who is really authorized to speak 'for Sega.' Then, figure out if that guy even kept his job.
