I know alot of you already seen this but for any fan of the Dreamcast this mini-documentary about the rise and fall of the Dreamcast is really interesting! It's in 2 parts on youtube and really low resolution but that's not the point. I've seen this a few years ago and I just tought that it could benefit others! Part1: What a great console it is. I still have mine and play with it all the time!
Thanks for the post Hardcore. I'll be sure to give it a watch here once I've got some free time. Whether it has more content or not however, it is a must-see for any Dreamcast lover.
I thought the Saturn was only a Failure in the US? Wasn't it pretty popular in Japan? Also they talk about how the saturn shouldn't have come out because it didn't have fun games, but didn't SOA block a lot of games from coming over? Like 2D ones?
The Saturn was NOT a failure in Japan as the video pointed out. What a dick. Yeah, it didn't sell as many units as the PlayStation but what did? The Saturn sold 9.5 million units worldwide and almost 6 million of those were in Japan. How the fuck he can say it was a failure in mind boggling. Yakumo
Yeah, I kind of hate this ideal that "If it doesn't sell the best. Or if it doesn't sell and break records that it's a failure" It always seems like , looking back at it that Sega pulled the plug too early with both the Saturn and Dreamcast.
Sega could have supported the Saturn till 2002 and the Dreamcast till 2006 and brought something out much more powerful but they cut the cords early ! which was a stupid move because the Dreamcast is still supported today i serious don't see why Sega does not publish its PSP/DS games to the Dreamcast with enhanced graphics i would like a whole bunch of sorta newer games on the system.
It would've made no sense to support the Saturn for that long, even in Japan it was dead by then. However, not dropping Mega Drive/Genesis support so abruptly around 1995 would've made a lot of sense. That and, you know, not releasing the 32X.
Bernie Stolar hated JRPGs and gave Working Designs a rough time while he was at Sega, hence why they did nothing for the Dreamcast.
In the instruction of the Last game Game Works would work on for SEGA is Ray (something) knight. I have it but I do not have with me at this time. =hugh
You mean Magic Knight Rayearth. They translated that and gave it God awful dubbing with 90's American street slang thrown in for good measure. Awful and completely ruined the experience. Still, hats off to Working Design who at least gave it a try.
