I think there were homebrew NES ROMs made as soon as the emulation was there (probably the mid to late 90s, I think), but I don't know of older repro carts.

Developing on Dreamcast is at least a pretty solid way to get exposure. Look at all the attention and reviews that DUX and Gunlord received.

Not to mention a lot of the games that come out eventually end up on XBLA/PSN/Wii U.

I'm seeing a lot of guys in their 40s buying a refurb Nes, sort of a middle-age crisis if you ask me.

Fuck, I wonder if I be doing the same 20 years from now.......how the hell do you even plug a Genesis to a 3D OLED 21:9 8K holographic display?

I just wish there were some good 3D homebrew games for the Dreamcast.

    @ Shadowlayer.
    ^^ well, i'm fucked then.
i guess my (expensive) hobby is one giant 'mid life crisis'... :witless:
never had an issue connecting items to other foreign items though.
    ...
a friends son who is nineteen is more into retro stuff than i am, wasn't raised to be, just took an interest and showed us all what the true meaning of 'obsession' is. (he wants a magnavox and an intellivision) :smile-new:
    ...
if a publicly available hdd spoof hits the market, the rest is easy-street! (homebrew development is sure to get a boost then)
    [edit]
    corrected for direction.

I've been into videogames pretty much my entire life - since as soon as I could hold a controller. I'm sure I'll continue playing to my grave. Except I won't have a grave, because I'll have my body shot into space for science. There'll be a Genesis and some games inside the spacecraft. It'll be cool.

XRGB will figure it out and sell it to you for $300-500

Maybe Monster will make $7000 (adjusted for inflation) cables to connect your primitive HDMI into the holoscreen4000

Same here, except I was thinking a Viking funeral, but I guess that's kinda the same.

There will be a small faction of HDMI separatists in those days. Analog will be the new steampunk. The entertainment industry will be busy lobbying against laws permitting people to use holographic recorders and gyroscopically correct holocams made out of smart putty to pirate mediocre romance comedy films starring Owen Wilson's brain in an android suit.

The future is gonna blow. Thankfully the Future we live in now is actually better than the one that Back to the Future Part 2 predicted. Sure where we're going we still need roads and hoverboards are still not permitted by the laws of physics but look at everything else we have instead
