This is something that I have been curious about for awhile now. Most of the documentation for the Dreamcast that we have is in English, where is all the Japanese documentation? Is it just that the documentation in Japanese was primarily distributed physically and the few docs that have leaked out have just never been scanned and uploaded? Or am I just looking in all the wrong places?
Hi there, you actually would be in the right place. I have contacted a few people also about the documentation of the Katana r11b for example. Unfortunatelly i never got any response from these people, even they saw my pm.
I've uploaded what I have so far, check here https://assemblergames.com/threads/dreamcast-docs.69653/#post-975725 Which does include R11 and the documentation it comes with (in English).
Thanks! Unfortunately, these are files which i allready have, except all the tools are missing in Katana r11b. These are the files i actually need: http://www.peymann.com/dcdev/list.txt and http://www.peymann.com/dcdev/list2.txt
Ah I see. Hmm I'm sure you already know this, by the dates those should be from R9. Those install files at the root directory appear to be for the WinCE SDK although not for a version I have it seems. Should be something between v1 and v2.1? I was able to find some of those files, but the directory structure is completely different so they're in an entirely different place. I did include file lists inside each zip (although they're kind of crappy) you could strip out everything except the filenames in each list to figure out exactly what is missing, might be useful in trying to track stuff down. Forgot to mention in the WinCE v1 docs there are a few things in Japanese.
What makes you think those documents are Japanese? The mention of Dreamkey suggests they are from the PAL region
Well, the title of the thread is "Dreamcast Japanese Documentation" - which does sort of suggest that might be the subject...
