I take it that the original rip ofthis game had loads of speech removed? I would have though though after removing the French, German and Spanish files there would be plenty of room left. After all a GDROM is only 200MB more than a CD.

No disrespect for you achievements, but I don't think this post is on the right place. Shenmue II got a retail release in Japan and Europe, so this is 'just' a warez version. So not really 0th bit release-worthy?

@wombat: I posted it here to share with only a few people on this board that might like to save their, let's face it, precious ShenmueII gd-rom and play the game with speeches on cd-r. I considered ok to post it here since it's dead for a while and could be usefull to many collectors here to save wear and tear on gd-rom while being able to play the game as close as the real one, but if a moderator feels it doesn't belong here I'll gladly remove it.

@Yakumo: The multilanguages files are only about 12MB together for all languages, they are only used in the menu and Ryo's book. All the subtitles are in English no matter which language your DC is set to. Every other release of this game lack a lot of speech files, which makes it weird to play. I had to downsample a lot of files to fit these disc.
Technically the HighDensity part of a gd-rom is 264MB bigger than a 80min cd-r, but you loose 22MB for the multisession on a cd-r. So about 286MB downsampled on the biggest disc (CD2).

    Regards,

I had a feeling that eventually someone would figure out a way to do this. I remember back in the day one forum user on some dreamcast forum had started a project to insert the english xbox voice files into the dreamcast version but could never finish it due to the fact that the files would never fit. I wonder if the same method used here could be used to finally give us a fully english voiced version of shenmue 2 on dreamcast.

I know alot of people dont like the english voices but personally I would rather hear the characters speak english instead of reading subtitles.

I think this gives people a chance to play a great game that is very overpriced.

    I'll put up a poll.

I don't agree that Shenmue II is overpriced, at least not the retail versions. The Dreamcast owners who were willing to import all bought their copies at launch, so there's really no further demand for that version. The American Xbox version is remaindered everywhere for $20 or less, and the used copies start at $8 on Amazon. Also, it's not as if there was a great leap of graphics quality from one platform to the next, or any new content.

Having said that, I don't really object to the presence of the download or the thread. Anything that promotes interest in Shenmue can only be a positive thing.

I remember that a French group released D2 for 1GB CDR discs. Nothing down sampled at all. The problem there is that 1GB CDR discs are very hard to find.

I voted for 'sharing' simply because the dc is a dead platform... technically, it IS piracy - but so long after the event I don't think anyone cares anymore *much like the Tyson NES rom that's been posted recently.

Would also love to see Shenmue 1 with subs - that would be great! (altho' I'm still curious to know whatever happened to the Segagaga translation?)

If you could give me complete details on how this was done I might give the english voice version a try.

As I guess it has finally been stated by the poll that it's ok for me to post this game here, I uploaded to a mirror: HERE

The ahx format was not completely reverse. There's an opensource program that can convert AHX into wav, but you need the official softwares to convert wavs into AHX.

UG isn't freeleech, a unique key is assigned to your acount and embedded in the torrents you download from the site. This is how they monitor your activity.

    Cheers!

Yeah, this is warez. Not something I think should be on this forum, considering it can be found on plenty of other forums elsewhere and is torrented.

I dont think its bad to have this up here. At first I thought, hey why not do a patch, but theres so many edited sound files it would be useless.
