It should work with a regular RGB SCART cable just fine for 480i video, not sure why you wouldn't see a picture. You're using a SCART-to-8pin cable for the front RGB port, right? Not the included JP21-to-8pin?

Supposedly most of the dc-scart cables do not have ground on the proper pin(s) and the mini doesn't work because of that. Even the official cable doesn't work. My 2 scart-rgb cables don't work either, that's why I resorted to modding my vga box. I've read that on the framemeister thread on shmups forum.

I guess one solution would be to open the DC-cable scart plug and patch the ground signal to where the framemeister cable expects it , this would solve the ground issue.

That's interesting. I own the Pelican brand RGB SCART cable and it works fine with the XRGB-mini.

Was up thinking about this this evening while redoing some AVSnap schematics, and had a thought-
    Why not make things easier?

It's been established that the Dreamcast outputs Separate Sync in RGB 15k mode...
Assuming one had a compliant dreamcast SCART cable, why not disconnect the dedicated Composite Sync (that's not active when VGA 31k mode is active), and instead put the Sync combiner inside the dreamcast, connected between Separate Sync outputs and the now floating Composite Sync pin?

This would mean that a normal VGA box would still do it's job and a normal SCART cable would still do its job, but we could now make an XRGB-Mini cable by simply wiring up a cable with a mini-din 8 and a switch across pin 6 and ground.

That sounds like something I was planning on doing once I get my GDEMU. With all the extra space available once I install it, I was going to build a sync combiner board and put a mini-din 8 connector and switch on the back of the Dreamcast. Then I'll just need to build a mini-din 8 cable to go from the Dreamcast to the XRGB mini.
