Hello folks...I recently Bought a VGA BOx, but i found that my utopia Boot disc is not compatible...I tried to download some upadates (1.3, 1.5) from IsoZone, but it didn´t worked properly...Do you know if there´s any Utopia Boot disc that can really work with VGA Box? Thank you!

There's also the DC-X boot disc that gives you this option. Not sure if it works with all games.

My DC-x does not work with VGA even though it claims to do so

That's really cool, I'll try it later. I've just been using DC-X, and it's worked with the games I've tried so far, but I'd definitely prefer to use Utopia.

The spinning reindeer screen is not supported in VGA mode, as you will get a black screen. However, if you insert a backup, etc, it will boot up if the game supports VGA, as there are a couple that don't support it full stop i.e "Last Blade 2"

All this does is bypass the "video not supported" message if I remember when using a standard non patched image. I have followed the DC scene since day one and have never come across a Utopia disc that fully supports VGA mode with the spinning reindeer. I would be very surprised if one actually existed.

If you mean the option to select it, yes it does. Its either hold Start or A on boot-up and you will get a "video mode" option screen.

The hell do you use Utopia for? There are oodles of properly piratable self booting games out there and if you're using it for imports install a region free BIOS. Will be ridiculously convenient and you'll absolutely love it.

I use it for imports and I don't want to install a modchip. Simple as that.

Either way it's disappointing how scarce the modchips have become. Such concentrated awesome for what they are. At least a region free bios makes up for that.

I'd program them and sell them but last time I tried to use my programmer for ICSP(sp?) it didn't really like it. Should probably build an adapter.

It's a CPLD IIRC. I've got a few sitting around here somewhere.

As one person previously mentioned - it is possible to get Utopia to boot into VGA. Ignore the fact, that the reindeer-screen doesn't show up. Just switch the disc, and if the game supports VGA, it will boot. At least for the Utopia-version I used to use before I had my Dreamcast chipped.
