I just bought a vhdc300, which converts VGA to Component. I tried using this on my Dreamcast, but the left side of the picture is cut off. I adjusted the horizontal pot, but it doesn't go far enough before losing signal. I'm missing about 29 pixels from the left side of the screen. I don't mind if its not centered, but as long as I can see everything on the screen, its fine. Is there any way I can correct this? Any help is appreciated.
argh, I had this same problem on my dreamcast.... but I can't remember what I did. It's because it's a widescreen monitor I think. I think I tweaked the monitor's settings through the controls... I think. Maybe.... Can update in a week when I get back home.
I can't believe I m posting this, but Dot50Cal, just install a game such as Quake 3 and try the resolution like that!
My dreamcast did the same thing through RGB on my 14" TV all those years ago. My TV always did it with RGB signals- although on the Gamecube you could adjust the screen position, which was awesome. You learn to not miss those 29 pixels
Except when capturing video, then you do Id see if its possible to replace the pots at all on the converter, but thats the only thing I can think of
Then save your icons and shut up moaning, if you have lots of icons on the screen then I hate to see what your desk looks like.... http://www.midiox.com/html/desktop.htm
My Dreamcast does the same when connected to my lcd tv (using a vga box). Weird is that the tv has a option for adjusting the horizontal setting, but it's disabled
DC's implementation must deviate from VGA a little too much; displays will take it upon themselves to center common video modes so if it takes Dreamcast for VGA (by counting sync pulses and their polarity) which it will, but the front/back porch periods are off, you'll have to manually adjust H-center. If that isn't an option, it would be more reasonable to get another display/capture device than hack the DC.
Hmm, I tried this on a PC outputting 640x480, and its the same poor position. So I assume its the fault of the converter. Thankfully, I only spent 1$ on it . I ordered another one, so I hope that it doesn't have the same issue.
woah woah woah only for $1? Give me somma that... XD Aye.. I have a Sharp Vizon 20" LCD [CLT2054] and the darn thing doesn't have a VGA input.. sucks too.. but at least it has sweet component and progressive scan (due to being LCD). Although, that does suck for anything output interlaced only... I wonder if it would be possible to VGA hack this bish. (not really assuming it's feasible, justsaying.)
I'd send it to you, but you'll probably be missing portions of the screen :\ So its not really ideal.
