Thanks Anthony. Do you know how to test Codebreaker codes on nullDC or demul? Do I have to install/download something extra? If I can do it on nullDC that'd be my preference as my laptop runs that smoothly.

I think they used Cheat Engine to do it. I haven't gotten it working myself but I am sure esspiral can explain it better than I could.

So I'm trying these codes with GameShark on real hardware, is each range one code or is this all one code?

    Meaning the SA2 codes are
    0228DEF8 - 43F00000
    0228DF28 – 3F400000
    0F0C0D76 – 00000008 "MASTER CODE FOR DC"

    So is it
    Code 1:
    Code:
    0228DEF8
    43F00000
    Code 2:
    Code:
    0228DF28
    3F400000
    Code 3:
    Code:
    0F0C0D76
    00000008
    Or

    Code 1:
    Code:
    0228DEF8
    43F00000
    0228DF28
    3F400000
    Code 2:
    Code:
    0F0C0D76
    00000008
    OR

    Code 1:
    Code:
    0228DEF8
    43F00000
    0228DF28
    3F400000
    0F0C0D76
    00000008

You can safely enter your example as 1 code, as well as every other code in this thread. If they're all enabled the cheat device will do the exact same thing regardless of whether they're part of the same code or not.

There are cases where my statement above is not true, but those are cases where the codes need to perform differently under some kind of condition like a button press or only at a certain time. I believe all of the codes in this thread are applied at all times, so you don't need to worry about combining codes if you want to.

In general when someone lists the name of a code with multiple lines of numbers/letters underneath, they intend for you to enter it as a single code.

Hello, I want to thank everyone in this thread who has made widescreen available on Dreamcast! It's awesome! I am having some difficulty with implementing it on the actual hardware with Project Justice. I have tried entering the code in burns of codebreaker (hacked for backups), gameshark, and action pro replay, and it will still not display in widescreen. I'm connected to my HD TV using a VGA cable (which I'm changing out for a VGA box that is currently in transit from Britain as the quality is good but has some horizontal line issues). I've tried the code that has been posted; is there an issue with how to name the game? I know that this game goes by different names and am not sure what to label it in the codebreaker software. Project Justice is not a default available game in any of the programs. I am running a CDI burn of the United States game (I would love to get a real copy, but they run about $150 now).

    Thanks!

What region is your game?It may be from a different one, I tested the code on real hardware and it works.

I think it may be the VGA cable I'm using. I tried some other games and they didn't work either. I have a VGA box coming in the next week or so, I'll update when I get the VGA box. I don't have any other connectors or I would try them!

I have that exact same backup of the US version made by YZB since he is the first and only one to have cracked the protection of this game. The widescreen code is working like a charm, the VGA cable whether it gives you good or bad signal has nothing to do with the code not working. It should work with or without VGA (s-video, composite etc.) I think that you are either imputing a wrong code or using codebreaker without the boot disc made to make it work with backups.

Hey again. I have the A/V setup properly now and am still having difficulty getting these codes to work. I have my Dreamcast hooked up through RGB/VGA into my HDTV. The picture is great and the aspect ratio is currently outputting at the correct 4:3. I have tried the following:

I downloaded the "Codebreaker *Cracked with Bootloader*" ISOs from isozone. I followed the directions and first used the Codebreaker disc to enter the code. The test game I am using is Rainbow Cotton since it only had a JP release and only has one code on the list. I created a new game entry for Rainbow Cotton, typed in 021AD848
3F400000, saved the code and turned off the console. I put the boot disc in, let it load, then put the codebreaker disc in. I selected the code and hit start game. Then i put in Rainbow Cotton. Not only does the widescreen not work, but it doesn't recognize my VMU when i begin the game. The VMU just shows a small icon in the top left.

Can someone please let me know what I'm doing wrong? What code disc(s) iso should I be downloading and using from ISO ZONE? Do I have to plug the VGA into an HDMI adapter so that it outputs to 16:9 stretched and then the code fixes it to be true 16:9? Sorry I am having so much trouble with this!

    Thanks!

The codes just account for the stretching when displaying a 4x3 picture onto a 16x9 display. So they take what would normally be stretched out and fix that. So yes, you need to start with a 16x9 signal.

As to why the codes aren't working, I can't help with that. I've only tested against originals. The VMU problem is likely caused by using a hacked copy of the Codebreaker, just remove the VMU and re-insert it once the game is running.

I'm using an ISO of codebreaker (because you can't buy one) but am using official game discs so if the issue is with the rip of the game then I'm unable to help.

However the first thing that struck me is you said you used a boot disc first, THEN used the Codebreaker. Codebreaker is itself capable of region unlocking your console anyway, I use it to play Japanese games on my PAL console all the time. To make Codebreaker allow you to play imports you only need to boot up the disc. Try ignoring your boot disc and starting with the Codebreaker, that may fix it.
You may also need a VGA to HDMI adapter, it works fine that way as the codes fix the issues with stretching the image.

    So try this;
Start Console with only the Codebreaker VMU plugged in (I advise having a single VMU dedicated to Codebreaker)
    Start Codebreaker
Type in the code / Select the code from saved Codebreaker VMU
Go to Start Game, swap the disc for the game disc and wait for the Dreamcast to start the game.
Insert game save VMU during the startup of the game disc.
    DONE.

    Hey guys!

These widescreen hacks are amazing! Could anyone by any chance convert the power stone 2 hack for NTSC-US? If not, I'd gladly make it myself for everyone if anyone's willing to create a basic tutorial (Unless there's already a tutorial?). Thanks for all the hard work!

I'm having a little trouble with this one, I seem to have found the zoom out multiplier address, but it affects both horizontal and vertical POV. This is the address at 028689E4. However this does affect two other addresses, which I beleive to be the horizontal and vertical povs, however I cant seem to freeze the values on an emulator. If someone could try these two codes on real hardware and tell me which/if any of them work.

Why don't you just burn a backup (of your totally legit PAL copy of the game) and use the EU code supplied here?

I'm not to sure if I can use my save file on the EU version... :/
Also I don't really want to wear down the laser on my Dreamcast anymore than I have too.
I appreciate the suggestion though. :D

That's a myth though, that backups wear more on the laser than gdroms.
