    It's simply.
You can dump it from VMU to SD card using Dreamshell. Just type in console following command

for write dumped image to VMU use command

hmm, that is useful, but it would be nice if there was a simple manager or something though

What's the max SD-card size DreamShell (and ISO Loader) can handle? Would a 32 GB SDHC card work?

Just gave Skies of Arcadia a spin using this version of DramShell and needless to say i'm pretty impressed with the results although a few kinks are still present (the game suffers from a few of the what I like to call ECHELON anomalies since they're very reminiscent of things that happen in the Echelon version though they're not as extreme, during the opening the game pauses between scene changes and the audio volume fluctuates, when battle areas load there's some pausing while the floor loads, and when a random battle is about to occur the game freezes and unfreezes for a few seconds twice) but other than those things the game runs very well (at least there's no delay in sound and all sounds stay in sync).

Echelon's release of Skies of Arcadia lags because of the on the fly decompressor. They haven't downsampled anything.
    (Speculation)

I know I'm just pointing out what I've seen using Dreamshell and what i've seen are things that remind me of Echelon's rip that's all (since I've played the crap out of said rip and I thought that the similarities in behavior was interesting enough to bring up), I know that the causes for lag in Echelon's rip are caused by the decompression (and boy is there a lot of it) all I was doing was pointing out how the uncompressed game behaves when using Dreamshell and noticed the similarities while playing, maybe in the next Dreamshell release SOA won't have those kinks (one can hope right?).

With all those cutscenes, have to believe it runs terribly. I would try it, but no one has created a SD-ISO.

If you recoded it I am sure it would not be to bad provided it works from SD. Most of the videos in Dreamcast games are sometime in excess of 6,000kb/s when mpeg can only use 1,500 if I recall. This cuts down on the data accessed from the SD leaving better results without any noticeable quality loss due to the size of the files being cut way down.

Any one know how to load homebrew/games over the network? in the ISO loader screen the HDD and NET options are greyed out, I went into the DSN option and set up my network settings but when returning to ISO loader the options are still greyed out.

These are still the best deal, in my opinion - -

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/DIY-SD-SDHC...687?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4d0b8961ff

I've hand-made them, embedded them within a Dreamcast with a little slot to access them, and so on, but these pre-made ones are just simple, and effective.

If you want a little project, though, and are capable with a soldering iron, the instructions to make them are out there for the having . . .

    Or, just spend the $20 . . . ;)

I read on another site that dreamshell requires an s-cart cable to work. Please tell me this isn't true as I only have the original cable that came with the DC and just bought an SD reader for DC.

I've no Idea what an s-cart cable is and it works just fine with my home made internal SD-card modification.

Hold on! you mean SCART?? lol

It depends on your TV, if you use an LCD then you shouldn't have to worry about RGB SCART as that converts colour from any region onto your TV, most LCDs do this automatically nowadays. If you're running a CRT TV then you may need one if you find that Dreamshell is booting and it looks black and white. This is because of differing TV colour standards PAL and NTSC, RGB SCART displays colour no matter the region IF your TV has one.

I have a one of them older standard NTSC (Yes, I'm American) TV's and an NTSC-U Dreamcast. Does this mean dreamshell runs only in PAL?
Well, I also have an Commodore 64 monitor that uses the standard AV cables too. TBH I don't know a whole lot about the different video cable as you all do. I have the DC SD ripper and it comes up on my screen with no problem. It would be nice to run DC games from the SD but my main purpose for buying the DC SD adapter was to use the SD ripper and backup my games.

If it's an older CRT TV then you might find that running Dreamshell and PAL titles come up in black and white on your TV. The programs will run perfectly fine, however like I said they will be in black and white and distorted slightly because of the differing colour standards. I'm not 100% sure but I think S-Video (google it) should sort that out for you as the majority of NTSC (American) TVs have an S-Video slot, whereas relatively few of them have SCART sockets because SCART is a European socket standard - it does provide the absolute best picture quality short of hooking the console up with a VGA (PC) cable to a monitor.

I think there are colour mods you can do to correct the black and white, but I don't know too much about that since I use SCART plugged into a modern LCD with my Dreamcast meaning every thing's in colour no matter what I throw at it.

Well I don't plan on running any PAL titles so I should be fine right? I have two games I first will backup then see if I can get them working.

    RE Code Veronica NTSC-USA
    Blue Stinger NTSC USA
Sonic Adventure NTSC-USA not working, trying to repair the disc with a skip Dr. ruined it.

BTW, I also heard some say that dreamshell needs to be installed into the BIOS to run games from SD. I sure hope not because I don't plan on modding the system in any way.
