What car are you driving, PikachuDX? I do listen to music while driving BUT when I come to a tunnel or multistory carpark it's down with the windows and up with the revs! Oh yeah, i love the sound of the boxer flat 4.

The current US STi is like 98% of a JDM base STi, which is still pretty damned good.

I'm bummed that the Evo is not long for this world:(

98% is still very good. You never use the full power of the Impreza on the road anyway or at least I now don't having been caught by the police 4 times and paid in total 46'000 yen to the bastards.

It really annoys me because in the UK last week they were talking about upping the motorway speed to 80mph. It's now 70mph which is a nice speed that I do on the Japanese motorway however the official limit here is 80km/h. That's what, 50mph? Yeah right. I never follow that.

80 mph? I thought they used kph in the UK. If it's actually 80 mph, that's pretty cool, depending on how strictly they enforce it. They're not really that strict in the US, where I live anyway. It's probably worse in other parts of the country. I've heard it's even worse in the UK though, especially with all the traffic cameras.

Also, 50 mph? If that's on an interstate (or whatever they call it in Japan), that's absolutely nuts. Almost anywhere I go in the US people go around 70-80 mph on the interstate, regardless of the speed limit.

The UK is a mix of imperial and metric system although the bloody EU are trying to make it all metric. I don't think they'll ever change miles though. far too much of a pain in the arse.

Here are Japan's speed laws which aren't even consistent. All restrictions are bull shit but you could have a narrow single road at 40km/h while a 2 or 3 lane road could also be 40km\h.

Within Towns (regardless of the road size!) - 40 to 60km/h Bull shit though because it's NEVER 60km/h

expressways/motorways/freeways - 100km/h unless it a single carriageway / expressway then it's 80km/h but again bull shit since all motorways I've used are posted as 80km/h

Well, spring is here which means the local park has opened up the back car park but what's best of all is that until evening it's always empty! So like a pilgrimage it's my duty to practice drifting in a safe environment. Well, that is until the park grounds men start shouting at me.

The video was taken with an iPhone 3Gs, hence the poor audio. After all I don't want to ruin my HD video camera with flying grit. Unfortunately I couldn't remember which traffic cone I placed the phone on so I took the wrong angle in to the drift meaning the phone didn't film the final (best part) of the drift. Maybe next time I'm do another.

Cool. I hope your iPhone didn't get damaged by the rocks.

Luckily it wasn't even scratched thanks to the silicon case it was in. Just a little dusty but after a quick wipe over with a damp cloth is looks as good as new again  I think the sound that you hear as the grit flies towards the camera is the sound of it hitting the traffic cone that I placed the phone against.

I just wish I had came in at the right angle so that you could have seen the back slide out. You can just about see it starting to go as it exits the frame.

I've seen this thread a few times and would just like to share a couple of photos of my car.

Its all standard except the Wolfrace Asia-tec wheels and Magnex SS exhaust.
I love the mk1 MR2 and this is my third one. The first one was a rot-box but got me hooked. The next was very better, but had the t-bar roof leeking problem (not good in this country). This is my best car so far.

Oh very sexy! I like it! That car looks like it's in fantastic condition, is it really in as good shape as it looks in those pictures? If it is that's a keeper for sure.

Do you have any videos of it in motion? Also what's the sound out if it like?

Its in great condition inside and out, just little bits here and there but its 22 years old now ;)
It sounds perfect. Not loud at all when idle, deep but subtle when normal driving then fantastic when the peddle goes down. The supercharger sound zingy at low revs and builds up to that hollow wailing sound at full boost.

sounds great. Most important is the quiet ideling sound. There's been times in my Impreza where I've turned the key to start the engine only to find out it was already running :banghead: It really is quiet inside the cabin while ideling. It can be quite noisey when on the motorway though when you put your foot down for a long period of time. It doesn't bother me but the missus never stops whining about it.

How much did you pay for your MR2? there are quite a few on Yahoo Auctions right now but none look as good as yours - http://list1.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/MR2-トヨタ-自動車車体-自動車-オートバイ/2084016626-category-leaf.html

I guess the SC model is more common/easier to find in Japan (and possibly in the US) but I have never seen another over here in the UK. Its getting very rare to see any AW11's at all nowadays. This one was a bargain at only £2200, but it needed plenty of things putting right.

Ok, just for a laugh, have a look at this. Its the first car I got with my own money.

Its was a 1982 Triumph TR7. I ran it for 2 years and it never let me down. Sold it to get my first MR2, the one that turned into a pile of rust.

Oh man, that's a nasty car. I had no idea Triumph even made anything like that. At least it has a Pioneer sticker on it :)

Not mine, but a mate has had a couple of MR2 mk1s, he paid £500 for his first one, it had a decent Clifford alarm on it as well. He then proceeded to crash it into a ditch haha. His second one got stolen too. Nice cars.

Two nice looking cars in this thread and a Subaru Chav Wagon. :p The MK1 MR2 is probably the best looking car of all time and the Triumph TR7 is a nice looking car...

Thanks Jamtex, I totally agree with that, and the TR7 is a very "love it or hate it" thing, a bit like Marmite.

The MK1 MR2 is indeed a beautiful machine but the best looking car ever? Hmm, it's up there at the top but not sure about being No.1.
