Nintendo cut the price of their handhelds in Japan.

$180 is till way too much and the iphone is a serious worry for nintendo.

Surely with Nintendo getting ready to reveal their new handheld the '3DS' prices would be cheaper than this? No where near as expensive as the PSP go though.

DS lite is no longer 16800 yen. It's now "store set," meaning the seller sets the price. Clearing stock.

Expect the 3DS to be pretty damn pricey (probably $199-$220 range).

    good lord.

i would hope it at least has PSP graphics. is it gonna be just a DS in 3D? lol, that sounds like a dumb question but whatever.

24,900 yen for sure for the 3ds.

Ds lite still make money, but it steals from dsi sales ( dsi is so pointless upgrade I bet the sales are less or par to ds lite)

Dsi DX was more than that, so I suppose same price as xl?

whats crazy is Nintendo mentioned that when they made the ds lite they were already working on a proto of a larger version of the ds lite but scrapped it cause they did not think it would sell.

Then they made the dsi and made a larger version of that. Ironic is it not? Honestly dsi and dsi xl are pointless, especially with now gba support.

That's not the reason why it was scrapped. See the Iwata Asks interview for DSi XL.
    http://nintendodsi.com/iwata-asks-chapter.jsp?interviewId=4&volumeId=1&chapterId=1

If you haven't read any of the "Iwata Asks" interviews, I recommend them. They're very informative.

I'm not a fan of the DSi (my daughters would disagree with my opinion since they like the built-in cameras) but I do like the XL. The larger screens are great. I look forward to getting DSiware Shantae game when it comes out.

DS Lite doesn't sell all that well (seriously). Here is last weeks sales data.

    http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=21620801&postcount=147

    PSP 25,054
    PS3 20,987
    Wii 20,476
    DSi LL 16,267
    DSi 10,324
    Xbox 360 3,546
    DS Lite 2,961
    PS2 1,463
    PSP go 1,232

*Sales are generally down right how for HW but the order they are listed is usually the norm this year. (LL sells more then DSi which is more then lite).

It won't be a DS with 3D. It's rumored to be around a GCN level. I think it will probably be a bit less (so not as strong as gcn but not as low as PSP).

If the system really is gcn like, I expect a fixed pipeline (ie no shaders). So it will be interesting to see how it fairs against 4th gen iPhone.

Considering its going to use a Tegra chip and a capacitive touchscreen I'll say yes, its going to be $200 at least.

However I'm not sure if nintendo is going to lose any money on this, since even when it has those components I dont think is going to be as beefed up as some of the latest android phones like the EVO4G, and looking at the iPod touch's unsubsidized price (and the cut apple gets which each unit sold) $200 seems like the actual price.

In any case is better than the GO's

Yeah last weeks jpn sales data. Sorry I though you were refering to japan since the up comming price drops are for japan.

Yeah in the US I think lite sales are high primary because they're ****ing cheap. =)

I did read that interview but I didn't correctly refrence it. My point on the whole thing was consumer wise the dsi xl was bad timing. I was pointing out nintendo should of waited till they had the dsi xl ready instead of releasing the dsi then dsi xl.

I must admit though that fighting game on it looks good.

What photo dojo? If so it's pretty much ass.

There are far better things on DSiware like the 3 games by Q-Games (makers of pixel junk)

Has DSIware actually produced many solid games? I never hear anything about it. Maybe its because it never really took off in the UK

Yeah there are some good games on the service. Some really nice polished puzzle games from Nintendo.

(these exist on the usa/euro store also, just I know how to find them easier on the jpn side)
