more screens here: http://ps2.ign.com/dor/objects/15547/duke-nukem-d-day/images/duke-nukem-20040707031945561.html -- This is an unreleased game for the PlayStation 2, developed by n-space (who in my view have been stuck doing dull projects since all of their big ones somehow got rushed, cancelled, screwed on reviews or a combination of the aforementioned). It reminds me of early Forever screenshots, especially the donkey-scene for example. Anyone know why this got cancelled? how much progress was made? and if anything was leaked? PS: http://www.kotaku.com.au/games/2008/11/nspace_cofounder_president_erick_s_dyke_dies.html Today I also found out that Erick S. Dyke, one of the co-founders of n-space, has died recently on November 10, 2008. You will not find this, as of this writing, on Wikipedia about him - there's actually no article at all about him. I honestly enjoyed Geist on GameCube and suggest to all of you out there to give it a shot if you have a Wii or GC and play it. May he rest in peace.
I think they are from the version that came after that (the 2001 version), models look too good for the q2 engine.
Speaking of unreleased games by n-space: http://kotaku.com/5136520/mourn-the-mature-wii-horror-game-winter-you-may-never-play-it
Yes, they definitely do look too good for Quake 2 engine, which after a quick search seems to be this - http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=omOPjBoClw0 . This - http://gamevideos.1up.com/video/id/16784 - is the E3 2001 trailer, including the old guy at the very end and the donkey part way through.
I'd say none of those screenshots could relate to D-Day at all since in what Barc0de quoted D-Day was suppose to be a third person game. IGN probably just threw crap up there since DNF wasn't ("hasn't yet" for those still hoping =P) been realeased.
It should be noted that n-space have done previous third-person Duke Nukem games on the PlayStation and the PC (Planet of the Babes and Time to Kill if my memory isn't failing me), hence D-Day should be in the same spirit as those. Still would be interesting to find any new info/leaked stuff as usual=)
All of those screenshots are from PC Gamer in December of 1999. Taemos is bang on the money, it was Unreal tech. http://www.planetduke.com/duke4/info/screenshots.shtml
I remember seeing these screenshots in a magazine and thinking that the graphics were incredible...my how things have changed so quickly.
And Manhattan Project was the pc game. (which strangely enough is the same name as the 3rd ninja turtles game on nes)
