Hi. Sorry to make 2 topics in one night but I wanted to get this up before I goto sleep.

I am trying to make CD-R backups of my DC games so I dont have to use my real ones.

I was able to download ISOs and images of almost all of them a couple years ago. However there were a few I never found.

The biggest one being Resident Evil 2. I did get a nero image of the game but I cant get it to burn correctly. I am currently messing with ISObuster to get the image restored and extracted but its being a pain. I have a registered versions but it says it needs to be registered when I goto extract the raw data.

So to make a long story short how can I make a image from my real discs. I know I have to use a GD Rom which means a special cable or BBA adapter.

Whats the easiet and cheapest way to do it?

Also any ideas on fixing my broken .nrg images?

    Thanks!

Rename the nrg to iso and all iso programs will read it fine.

The cheapest way is with a Dreamcast Coders Cable, though it would take hours since it's via a serial connection (good luck even finding one!). Another alternative is with a BBA, which goes for $100+ on eBay.

Those will dump your images, but creating self-booting CD-Rs is a whole different process.

Try burning the Nero image with Alcohol 120%.

You probable downloaded a crapy repack of the game, cuz usualy the DC scene releases are in CDI format (99%), so i sugest you to redownload the game & this time try to find a scene release by KALISTO or ALPAX.

Well can anyone tell me how hard it is to make them selfboot?

All my current images are selfboot so I would prefer to make one of those.

Also I did some digging and appently there was never a scene release of RE2 in NTSC. Only the PAL version which is what I have now.

I will try burning it with alchol. Nero starts to burn it fine but at around 92% it stright up fails and says something like data read error.

Does anyone here have a self boot ISO they would be willing to send me or mail me. I can provide proof that I own the actual game.

I looked on P2P sites and torrent sites but most DC games are gone now. I guess theres just no intrest in them anymore.

    Thanks!

EDIT: Just tryed to burn it with Alcohol 120% and it fails at 95% it give me a error saying it cannont burn because of incompatable medium.

I wonder if its the size of the image. It comes in at 766megs. A solid 66 megs more then a CD-R is supposed to be able to handle. I think thats a bit much even with overburn. Can anyone recommend me a program other then ISObuster to try and yank the data so I can rebuild the image?

True both of the RE2 SR are PAL versions, but they should play fine on NTSC systems. Here if you want is the Echelon Dreamcast Self-Booting Tutorial + Tools! http://rapidshare.com/files/38568284/DC_e_-_selfboot.zip.html

And here another link to some more Dreamcast Utilities...
    http://www.megagames.com/dc/dc_utils.shtml
...here you can also dl the Utopia DC BootCD.

For the DC Backups try Underground Gamer, they got the whole US collection there,
but i dont know if the registry is still open.

    I was using 80 min CD-Rs.

I tryed burning all sorts of diffrent ways. It wouldnt matter what settings I went with though, if they were wrong the game would just not boot in the DC, for some reason the burning software isnt even finishing my burns. They always screw up at around 93-94% which is why I asked about the size being to large.

Thanks for the utilities Alex. I already have the boot CD but I much prefer selfboot.

I found the Underground site and am looking into getting access.

If anyone else can help me out that would be SUPER.

EDIT: It says they have reached max users and they arnt taking anymore? You dont happen to be a member there do you alex?

I got ISO buster to rip the contents but I dont know what to do with them. They arnt normal folders and files. All I can extract are .tao files and .bin files which are still very large.

Anyone have exp. with this kinda thing?

one other thing to try, install a older version of nero (around v5) as i belive the nevew versions had trouble burning older images, failing that try another cd writer, failing that youve got a bad copy, so download another one

I cant find another to download. I have searched high and low.

My only chance for another image is to make it myself or find a person here or somewhere that has a personal image they will share with me.

I am looking into making my own but its not going to be as easy as I would like.

    I have already tryed 10 cd-rs on 2 burners. (1 newer 1 older) I have also tryed using DVD-Decrypter, Nero 7, and Alchol 120

I am now trying to extract all the data from the images to rebuild it myself but I know nothing of DC file structure or composition. :(

Theres a posibility to rip the DC games on your PC, here is the faq
    http://rs119l3.rapidshare.com/cgi-bin/upload.cgi?rsuploadid=326474817442230429#
but i say dont bother if you dont have a clue, since it aint easy.
And like diddydonn said if you are using Nero for burning, use the version 5
cuz the new version got some issues with the older images.

Plus...if you are burning in Alc120% use RAW/DAO wriiting method
    for DiscJuggler use Model/DVD
    and for Nero use DAO/96

PS. theres a torrent at EmuParadise it aint a SR, but since it was dl more then 5000 times it probable works.
