Hi....im sure some of you know me anyways Im going on a vacation soon...car trip...14 hours of nothing but virginian hills....what fun! i decided to bring my portable dvd player with me and ive got some retro core(thank you for making it free yakumo) and other movies. but heres my question i want to do more with it, does anyone know of some software or freeware stuff that will run on a standard dvd player, but allow me to do more than watch movies.... is there any dragons lair type stuff out there? also.....i want to burn some more retro core to a dvd....and i used nero6 and it said it would take 3 hours to burn a single disc...is there any programs that will speed this up?....or make it a little less painful? thanks
yea thats the thing.......2 hours to encode it.....i tried setting my priority higher...but it only made it faster by 5 minutes.....is there any other way to encode and burn in an hour or so?
lol.....a faster pc..lol......or kick the dang thing till it works...lol i could say that i dont have a problem with waiting 2 hours..and i dont....i just dont trust my pc.... everything that could go wrong has gone wrong..... my pc is fast i think amd64 3000 512 400mhz ram 160gighd...153 free...34 used 64 mg vid card... its just that my computer doesnt like windows.....but whose comp does..lol
Yea, ive never had any luck encoding in under an hour, and i run: Athlon 64 3400+ 1 gig ram 160gb hdd Geforce 6800gt Everything in it is high end, but it just wont encode faster lol
sonofagun.......ugh......i really want to watch some retro core through the vallys of north carolina.... does yakumo only offer the files as .avi? is there any software like say chess game of free dragons lair that would run on a dvd player?
Try setting it to one-pass encoding. Looks worse, takes less time. Also I'd bump the ram on your machine up to 1gb. Won't speed ti up hugely (Still >2hrs i expect) but extra ram never does any damage
whats one pass encoding?.......sorry if i sound a bit like a newb......i gamed on an amiga till last augest...console wise...largest collection of games in southren ontario canada..hehehe.....250
yea....i thought 64 bit was gonna be so fine...and damm fast...at the time i bought 64 processors had just hit the market....man i had the bragging rights...no one else has a 64 bit cpu......and then it struck me....64 bit cpu with 32 bit windows......man do i hate windows......just several minutes ago....it completly froze on me.....i dont hate windows as i just think its stupid sometimes... is there any good progs to get the encoding done faster?....also i cant find any freeware dvd games like dragons lair...do they exist?
Encoding videos takes forever even on the fastest of CPUs I run a sad 1.4Gig CPU which takes about 15 to 20 minutes to encode MPEG 2 to uncompressed RGB (including editing and denasalizing). From Volume 11 Retro Core will be available in DVD format and the standard MPEG 4 avi files. I've already done two games and they look really nice running from DVD on the TV. Yakumo
I use Nero Vision Express like Funkstar De Luxe said but I find it pretty shit. Please read my other thread in this section for reasons why. Yakumo
oh thank heavens.......was it just easier to put retrocore into avi format instead of vob.....last time i checked vob files played on my comp......i think...... oh and 1.5 ghz aint bad........full 8 years all i had was a 133 with 16 mbs of ram......i remember just going to the olf assembler would crash the computer lol
why is it that everytime i post on a forum.....ill post and then it will never have another post again......i posted pics of virtua hamster on the rare saturn/ps1 forum....very cool i think....that was off topic but i just wanted to know....
