The physical media in this instance forces you to launch through Origin anyway so it makes no difference, you still end up with an unplayable game when the servers are down. Some games do it with Steam too, but AFAIK those have an offline mode, it is just EA that sucks.
The only way I would pay for games on origin is if EA starts giving away free PC rigs And if they keep messing up that be the only way they get ANY users... Corporate software -> SHIT I been asking around some people I know on neogaf to see what dinky little company in bangalore won the contract to code this POS The only reason anyone is using it is because the bigwigs at ea removed their games from steam and other services
OMG!!! I can't even install my Dragon Age: Inquisition on EA's POS Origin!! This thread is 4 years old and NOTHING has changed1
Origin is like a version of steam where the company running it is doing it just for monetary reasons.
When EA pulled their games from steam I cut all ties, I've never installed origin and I've never looked back. The one game I was marginally interested in playing was the third mass effect but the ending to that was so terrible I'm glad I didn't bother. The only thing EA understands is money, I've heard so much yammering about boycott or hate on EA but then 10 mins later everyone is all up in arms about the new xxx game that EA just released. I proudly stand here saying that EA hasn't gotten one single penny from me since they pulled all their games and went to origin, and I plan on keeping it that way no matter what they release.
I hate it when I buy a physical copy of a game and then be forced to sign up and install some shite client software. Usually this something that you have to do if you want to play the game! If I want to play Crysis 3 I HAVE to install and sign up to Origin!
I can understanding wanting to boycott such a company but I personally never could. For certain games, sure, but Mass Effect 3, for example, was an amazing game (my favourite in the trilogy, despite the ending). Origin isn't forced on you as much if you play on a console, but ironically, it's still there, just begging you to sign in. Still, look on the bright side, guys: at least Origin isn't Uplay. That thing barely ever works.

That looks like he just got hacked, probably made his password something like "i<3manunited" or something stupid.
