http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/ap/20050504/ap_on_bi_ge/earns_electronic_arts lol, that's EA for you. Afraid to admit their **** sucks. No one wants the same madden or some lame ass fps with james bond license thrown in. I didn't see the Halo 2 people complaining about bad sales from people waiting for new consoles...stop buying licenses too and make some unique stuff.
"It was a year of many positives but also a year of many disappointments," Yeah - positives is EA are losing money and disappointments being they are still whoring out crap =/ Give me Jungle / Desert / Urban Strike dammit!
I looked at their game list of gamefaqs.. http://www.gamefaqs.com/features/company/619.html and it's just interesting to see how they've shifted from making/publishing unique games to what they now do with licensed shit over the years. And they wonder why their profits are down this quarter after buying exclusive licenses out the ass. Competition isn't costing them money if their games are truely good, it's their dumbasses spending money.
This can only be expected, when you dump billions of cash in attempts to buy the world, it tends to eat at your profit margins. Also, Recent members of the "I Hate Electronic Arts" fan club should enjoy these two Press Releases, EA Reports Fourth Quarter and Fiscal Year 2005 Results "Record $3.1 Billion Revenue Driven by 31 Platinum Titles" and Electronic Arts stock sinks on outlook "Electronic Arts Inc., the world's largest video game publisher, reported a sharply lower profit on Tuesday and its shares tumbled 11 percent as it forecast an unexpected net loss for the current quarter."
No one wants the same Madden? How can you change Madden? You can update the graphics, update the rosters, add some gameplay elements, but that's about it. Football never changes. And everyone wants Madden. Everyone at my school will have a copy of it. I don't like Madden but I admit it's a good game.
I said "same madden". I got madden when it lauched on the ps2 all "next gen" and for the most part it looks exactly the fucking same today. That's sad.
and i say they need to release only one madden , one nhl and one (whatever else) per year, because the online will definitivly a major part of the next gen, and they'll be able to make downloadable upgradres for the game. They just need to stick a good moment on the base of the game and it's graphics, before releasing it on the shelves. but like EAtake a major part of their cash from these titles that comes every year, they won't do this, you can be sure.
All EA makes sequels to games that is it. They Might go on a limb and make the sequel different like need for speed under ground but it is still need for speed. Look at the james bond games they are all still james bond.
Just do what I do. Buy Japanese hardware, don't mod it to play imports, and live in (as what Antipasta would say) an EA devoid cave... and live hapilly ever after I must say.
PC-wise for me would be Battlefield 1942 in 2002 - but EA only published it, they didn't develop it. Console-wise we would have to go back even further. Amazingly I liked a game from a company I didn't like (EA) on a system I wasn't too fond of (Playstation) The game was: Future Cop LAPD 2100 Probably not the best game in the world, but hey I enjoyed it, even more so on 2 player coop.
Mate, just look at that list of games that EA developed, and point out to me anything honestly worth playing since Megadrive. Even in the games they've published there's next to nothing. A totally uninspiring list.
