Recording a 720p HD arcade video is very interesting thing than recording a console. what's the best way to capture lindbergh and ring series game walkthrough in the best quality (just like HOTD4), which equipment should I need?
Why is it different than recording a console? If it outputs DVI, use an adapter for HDMI and capture using any number of capture solutions out there
It depends on the arcade cabinet he has Borman. Consoles are more user friendly because they have their inputs ready for a monitor/TV. Since the arcade cabinet is a one in all machine. You have to see whether it has a VGA input, RGB, or anything of the sort. It also varies of course by the year of the arcade machine as well. To answer Luffytam's question there are a few things to take into consideration. You may have to get a nice quality capture device. For example, El Gato, Hauppauge, or something with an HDMI capturing device(If you want to capture in the best quality possible). I then saw this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YpWkeG1gFrM. The set up maybe a bit of a hassle, but I think when you see the quality you will truly enjoy it, as I would if I want to capture the best quality. You could also apparently by a supergun as well which I saw here(http://forums.shoryuken.com/discussion/33828/how-to-capture-video-from-arcade-cabinet). I am still very unfamiliar with how to do this, and I kind of have a feeling if it is an older machine then if you want to also capture better quality you would need something like an XRGB3 or such in order to get those 15khz signals. I hope this somewhat helps
Im aware of that, but he mentioned 720pHD from Lindberg and Ringx hardware. Seeing as though those are essentially PC units, it is still real easy just taking the HDMI or VGA out of it and capturing away. And we've gotten to the point where much of the post-Jamma boards can be captured easily enough. I know there are still some oddballs for resolutions and sync, which will give issues regardless, but a lot of it can be captured using the Micomsoft card, which is one of the better non-500$+ cards out there because of its ability to do RGB at 240p up to 1080p60.
I use an Elgato Game Capture HD to capture arcade games and console games. I use a vga to hdmi with upscaling for anything that needs it.
I 'cheat' and use the record function of MAME: http://90sarcadegames.blogspot.co.uk/2013/06/tutorial-recording-videos-of-games.html
Since when MAME emulates Lindbergh and RingWhatever? And even if it did - can you imagine what resources it will take to emulate 5-3 years old PC (a few times more powerful than X360)? Decent machine can't even run a few properly emulated Naomi/Atomiswave games at 30% of nominal speed.
I was talking about Sonny_Jim's post with suggestion to use MAME recording feature. And MAME emulates stuff at low level.
To elaborate on my earlier post. For stuff like Naomi and 246/256 (stuff that outputs vga resolution), I will use an vga to hdmi to upscale it to the 720p that the legato needs (which will allow you to hook stereo mini jack audio into it). For anything of lower resolution such as medium resolution or standard resolution games I will use a gbs8200 ega/cga to vga board first and then it goes into the vga to hdmi and into the legato game capture hd. If I had anything such as system 357 or Lindbergh (which does direct hdmi), I would plug them directly into the legato as they output 720p natively (as far as I know)
