They do use different power supplies, but, if you remove the sidecar, you can use a retail power supply, and it will work just fine.

WTF? I have no idea why anyone would want this, but here is a lovely Nintendo promotional Donkey Kong banana (looks over at several Ninty collectors). Let battle for the weird promo item begin!

    <NtS>

I'm always dubious about these things, but judging by some of the other items this eBayer has on / or offered recently, he seems to attend press / release conferences and you just never know.

So, if "Jericho" is your thing then here's an opportunity to grab a bit of the promotional material made available at a Codemaster's press event.

Nice example, all boxed up, complete and v. reasonably priced as BIN £80, but watch out for the P&P at £22+! Starting price, no bids at present £40.

Item in the Oxford area, UK.

Just as the heading suggests, an Atari Jag. Alps dev board rev. 1.0 in Ellsemere Port, UK.

I just noticed this while checking out some of the above listings, but has eBay really added an advertisement link under the view counter? Seems a bit tacky selling ad space on listings that Sellers paid for. Where's my cut?

eBay's policy on advertising is presumably the same as their defense regarding 'not' being an auction house and PayPal not having anything at all to do with international banking regulations.

i.e. I bet it runs along the lines of 'We are not providing advertising your honor, simply a 2 dimensional graphical environment on which thoughts and auto-suggestion can take root in the minds of our non-auctioning user base, not so much to influence, but to inspire new ways of living!'

Paypal is a money lending institution due to its function, under UK law. In short, they can suck your balls with their disclaimers. Additionally, the nature of eBay is that of an online auction as well as a store and this is certainly what the courts would find if ever in dispute.

Funny how eBay have argued that they are not an auctioneer of any kind, which is the legal challenge presented by the French Assoc. of Auctioneers who demand that eBay follow their territory guidelines regarding auctions. eBay (as ever) is challenging the claim, stating that they are 'not' (repeat 'not') an auction house, auctioneers or involved in auctions.

In their eyes, they simply provide the means by which individual members can strike financial agreements relating to the value of the product in question. They provide the back bone of this service, and a means of tracking the 'trade', but in no way are they auctioneers!

Interesting logic that, just as in many territories anyone lending money is required to adhere to banking regulations. This is something that was defined in the UK because of the increase in loan sharking. You have studied corporate law haven't you, what is your take on it?

Feel free to move the discussion to a more suitable thread if this is going to turn into a long ramble lol

P.S. Good to see you back!

I agree this should not be discussed here...

Here's my only comment on this. I can see the point of Ebay, they aren't running the auctions, hell they aren't involved at all. It's like if you went to a building called "Jeffbay"... you paid a price to rent a room and setup bilboards expaining the product you're selling.... then "Jeffbay" gave you tools to grab bids for auctioning, but is in no way doing it themselves. You ran it how you wanted to, accepted the highest bidder yourself and sold or bought based on feedback from other people. I don't see how ebay is an auction house either really.

    Jeff
    (my 2 cents).

    sorry off-topic.

They still coordinate your auction with other people's auctions and the buyer's bids. That just what an auctioneer does, isn't it? They take people's bids for your item you're selling, that's per definition an auction.
