First one I have seen appear on eBay in the UK. Lovely looking unit, can completely and utterly recommend one to any PSP / Sony / Dev fans. Probably the most used piece of dev kit I own, perhaps recently eclipsed by the Tool.

Three things to ask the seller. What version of firmware is on the unit? I don't see it mentioned in the listing. The football game is running from the DVD not UMD. The second light is lit, which is how you can tell.

You might get a genuine Debug title thrown in, so that's question number 2! The football game might also give you a clue as to how up to date the fireware is as well, because if it's running current titles it's the latest revision.

Lastly, does the UMD drive still work? Chances are it'll be a yes, but would be nice to check that out. Can be repaired using standard PSP parts, but you'd maybe want to factor that into the cost of purchase. It's a bit frustrating getting to the UMD drive on one of these units.

Anyone know what football title it is? That might also give a clue to the original source.

Anyone so Pro Evolution daft that they can tell by the particular shade of grass or something? So that'll be a Konami title then.

I've emailed and spoken to the PSP development kit owner. He is a nice guy and bought the unit last week at an auction!

Despite not being a collector or in the trade (he's a photographer) he realised it must be worth something.

He can't check the firmware as at present he doesn't know how to, but I shall send him information on that and post the result here.

The DVD (this is confusing) in the unit isn't a game, but he said it was just a DVD of goals. Knowing the unit doesn't actually read DVD films I am wondering whether it's just some Konami promotional thing, so I've asked for more information.

I have also warned the owner that the unit might be pulled by SCEE / eBay.

He seemed very pleasant and in the short communication thus far, appears a genuine, good seller (with superb feedback). He certainly knows it's worth more than silly offers!

I wont close the auction early.

I have firmware to pull the unit up to 2.71 if anyone on AG wins the auction. Sadly I don't have anything confirmed above that or to 2.82A which is on my unit. If anyone knows of ANY way to pull it from my unit or where to obtain other versions (confirmed only) then please let me (us) know.

Push for the UMD to be tested as the laser has clearly had some use if it's early '05 version.

He just told me that he is aware of the huge interest and has seen the Playstation.com thing now. Not terribly impressed with it, but as it hasn't yet been pulled he will leave it until it has been. Looks like he is just hoping for high bids in and select the highest if and when the time comes. Which means unless you've emailed him I doubt he'll be able to get back to you if Sony / eBay does pull it.

What can I say? I personally know several people interested from this site alone and this unit is ALL over the gaming community now.

When the auction went live, he didn't even know what the hell the unit did, not to mention it's value. It's only becuase people keep bloody emailing him and telling him how rare it is etc etc, that he is now expecting BIG bucks...:banghead:

As per last time, it's highly likely that the item will get pulled by ebay at which point I'm guessing he'll then start playing people off against each other to get the highest price. I, like many other people here, have been on the look out for one of these for a very long time, but on this particular occasion I think things are just gunna get out of hand and the chances of a bargain are long gone...
