The pair of you should get a list of all the arcades in your area. Then call them to establish whether they rent or buy the units. If they purchase them, simply ask whether they intend to replace any of their Universal / Net City units. If they rent, ask them where from. Start tracking backwards. A few companies have started to off-load these units.

I thought the end price was a bit more than it was worth, especially as I'd have to pay another £160 to get the unit up from its current location. So, I left it.

Yeah and the demand is quite high too. Saw an astro city a couple of months ago on a local selling site and people were bidding like crazy!

And I personally coudn't think of more than 1 "big" arcade here, but I guess it might be wotrth contacting them. Thanks for the tip. :)

I am surprised there are not more arcades in Holland tbh, it just seems such a great place for almost everything else! Now that the ferry service from Scotland has disappeared, it's not even like I could help out. Nearest would be Newcastle?

I tried that once with the few arcades that are in Utah. Went looking for a Net City, but ended up only with blank stares, "Who are you?"'s and an empty wallet after finding one loaded with Power Stone, owner wouldn't sell it however. He was determined to turn it in to a novelty TV and sell it on ebay... such an idiot... didn't even know what it was until I contacted him about it.

Ahhh, Power Stone. Version 2 is even better! I am surprised actually as I've tended to find arcade owners only too willing to talk if you appear interested in items they are clearly wanting to off load. When I went to view one unit, I asked whether any other units were also for sale. That worked for me.

I cannot imagine anyone wasting a Naomi cab like that - what a shame! :noooo:

I dont know if its the same in the UK, but a lot of the machines on location are all rented anyway, and the people of the store rarely own it. At least around here.

Yeah, it's mixed here, but the majority are rented out. Those companies are punting them off fairly frequently. I'm looking for a newer 29" screen for mine and have been keeping an eye open for a cheap / spares or repairs unit and turned down 4 in the last couple of weeks due to the screens going on them. Might be the weak point of the units, so I would suggest people taking great care to ensure the have a nice, crisp screen output prior to putting their money down. A tri-sync replacement is roughly £300 plus P&P in the UK.

The monitor chassis on them are shite, recapping should fix most of the problems or a new chassis for about 90 quid should make them good as new.

Mine is dull and the bottom left edge has started to turn blue, like the tube is damaged. It's no big deal, I can still play it, but it would be good to get back to a crisp image and certainly considering the price I paid, I am not arguing!

Might be worth get the tube rejuvinated and the chassis recapped as that should make the picture a lot better. What monitor chassis does it have? Nanao?

I didn't recognise the manufacturer tbh. As this isn't the correct thread for this, I shall dump images into the Naomi Universal thread I have. You might know the unit.

    I'm selling Sangokushi IV 32x.

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?V....ssPageName=STRK:MESE:IT&ih=008

Description covered in the auction. I'm UK based.

If, on the off chance, a forum member ends up winning it, then have free shipping for any of the services listed in the auction. (If you wanted a different more expensive service you'd just have to cover the difference)

Sure it's not a degauss problem? Try moving any magnetic objects away from it (speakers/ power cables etc), and don't move it while it's on and running. Normally switching off and on at the wall can cure most degauss related purity errors.

I think this is known as 'boosting', it can sometimes shorten the life of the CRT even further. If the tube's low emission then its normally seen better days, and boosting it might only be a temporary fix. You could always try re-adjusting the A2 volts on the line output transformer for better grey-scale.
