    So this is what happens to let's way consoles being kept new in box for many years? I had no idea, personally i thought most yellowing was due to sunlight and smoke.

    BTW is there any way to restore it to it's original color?

    It's the breakdown of chemicals in the plastic and sadly when it's that bad it is a bitch to get to anything near it's original color. I've never used the retrobright method before, but I have heard that it can make some plastic very brittle.

    I think if it's stored somewhere cool (and in complete darkness), the plastic should hold up pretty well.
    It also depends on the quality of the plastics as well. If you look at a lot of the Super Famicom consoles that have yellowed, often the logo part is still white compared to the rest of the body. In some instances it's the other way round!
