Well, I offered to refund it if he retracted the feedback, and after requesting he did so (when did eBay put that option there?) he has now left positive: Great cooperation ! Honest seller! Recommend Have to say the pictures he sent show the box was clearly fucked. The outer box must have been smashed, although the odd thing is the other game I packed in there arrived fine (and he left positive for that originally, oddly) Don't usually have too many problems, although in terms of stuff getting lost, I think Italy is top of the list!
Sending to Germany has always been crap in my experience. Got to make sure it's packed tightly inside so it's firm because twice it's seemed like its been stomped or stood on.
At least you got your record cleaned. Do I guess correctly that the idiot is going to keep both items? Sending within Germany is hit or miss too. The last game I bought off amazon came in the typical "amazon" packaging: tightly packed within cardboard, and absolutely no crush zone. One of the edges had been chopped off, the paperboard hanging loose, and the plastic parts around that edge of the game case missing. Similar things tend to happen with all shipments I get from them, but that has luckily been the most extreme case as of now. The other times were just slight indentations. On the other hand, I never had problems with packets needing to go through customs (aside from the fact that its customs, of course). And that includes some PS2 TOOLs (which are prone to be destroyed by DHL) and more rare (heavy) hardware. Depending on which officer is there, I may not even need to show ID anymore...
The best packers I have found are the japanese hands down. I have bought from all over the world and everything from japan has been 100%. I had a dreamcast with games shipped from the uk in what looked like a 2nd hand bubble bag. On it's long journey to australia, things didn't go to well.
Once sold a non working digital camera. Listed it as "Part or Repair Does Not Work" for $4. Received negative feedback that stated that the item arrived broken and did not work.... Some people should just have a railroad spike driven through their head before they dilute the gene pool.
One time I sold a PS3 that was working perfectly. When the guy got it I found that he did a charge back saying that it did not work. Guess what? He forgot to plug in the HDMI cable....sigh..
You're probably right there. When I got my first PVM (of 2 that were sent), there was a massive dent on the front-right side. There's no way, if it was carefully lifted and carried in a car, that could have happened. It had to have been dropped from at least 4 or 5 feet, or else slammed into something at a very high speed. I want to know what the fucktard who did that was thinking. *CRUNCH!!* Oh well, not my problem. Granted, if it was packed better (as the second one was), it probably would've been fine. Still, as you suggested, they don't treat packages with care.
Another story from the madhouse: Given that the Deutsche Bundespost was privatized in 1995 (splitting off Deutsche Post DHL in the process), there are quite a number of people who still remember the "good old times", especially if some of the "modern stuff" doesn't work as it used to back then. Actually, when sending something via DHL, the sender is technically responsible for sufficiently safe packaging. But the rules what constitutes "sufficiently safe" packaging have changed over the years, especially after the privatization... I do not know how that is handled when an international packet doesn't meet their standards on import, but I remember one particular story when I was waiting in line (to retrieve a national packet) and an old couple before me wanted to send something... wrapped in paper only. The worker at the counter declined to accept it, for obvious reasons. They seemingly hadn't used the postal service for a decade, at least that was what I understood when the conversation got loud. They thought it worked just like it used to, and couldn't understand why they should use a cardboard box (and, behold, pay extra for that). Was quite a scene, given that some germans are quite dogmatic persons (on both sides of the counter), especially in the part of the country this happened in. :banghead:
