The fact that it ended up at a goodwill is probably why it's here. :p

A month or so ago they were selling a launch team Xbox. That's generous. o_O

They listed that Xbox twice. I guess the first winner didn't pay.

First the guy claims that shipping figure is calculated by zip code and won't ship it as "cheaply as possible" because it is such a rare item. I then point out that a medium flat rate box would cover the same identical service for $11.85 and he gets defensive calling it a cheaper service (implying that it is also inferior). I outright called him on using it to cover his eBay fees and he finally says "Not to(sic) bright are ya? Have fun finding one of these in the future".

Admittedly that isn't the worst in overpriced shipping I have ever seen this is something I've been after for a very long time as a complete package.

I also inquired with the seller about the high shipping price. I also said that if he's just fluffing for recovering eBay fee's he should be upfront about it. Not that I want the item... I'm just being a hard-ass to bring it to his attention that he isn't fooling anyone. No skin of my nose anyways.

If you have an eBay account, send him the same question. Once he realizes he's going "Have fun finding one in the future" to like 10+ people, he'll realize he's totally shooting himself in the foot. Or at the very least, you'll have a good time at his expense.

Last message he sent me inquired with what the parcel would cost flat rate after adding insurance and signature confirmation then threatened to report me to eBay for harassment if I sent any more messages.

So I went ahead and sent him another with the updated figure of $13.29 or there about. I don't think eBay will ban my pristine account because of someone with 0 feedback issuing a complaint. Though if anyone has one of these they'd like to sell, I'm buying.

I understand when the seller is blatantly over charging postage and handling but why the fuss over it?

If he sent it the best way possible for the money, covered his fees and his paypal fees why is it a problem? No different to when you send gift payments, you cover the fees.

Selling something, I package it (takes time, materials), take it to the post office (takes time, fuel), and finally head back home. The only stuff I post is stuff I sell so I don't just "go by the post office on the way" - $3-4 on top for the time doesn't exactly break the bank but covers the 30min you lose. If the item is local to you then fantastic, you go pick it up, waste time driving, probably still costs you the same (I always consider my time at the rate I get paid per hour from work).

Fair enough he should be asking a bit less (I wouldn't go overboard that much) but they have a right to. Who's to say the auction will go high enough to cover it?

PS. Everything I have sold I've had to pay more for postage than quoted anyway out of my own pocket because I am a muppet.

PPS. When I click on that link, tells me $29.95 worldwide shipping.

Here it is ladies and gents. The absolute most laughable eBay listing you will ever see.
Firstly, a pirate copy of C&C, complete with the serial for it in the picture, secondly, what appears to be a pirate copy of some Michael Jackson CD. That and his feedback. 9 transactions with feedback left (not many people bother these days leaving feedback) and one of them has gone poorly!

The fact it is only $7 difference between domestic and international shipping is what makes it laughable.

I generally do the same, since I have to spend money for public transport I usually charge $2 or so on top of the materials, boxes etc. I still sell my stuff on eBay without anyone saying my postage is too high, which it's hardly over priced, sometimes I over charge by $1 or 2, but that can't hurt.

A happened to buy another N64 game the other day and the woman I bought it off refunded me the postage that she over charged seeing it was 10 pounds, AU$15 it was very nice of her to do so.

However overpriced postage is something like this:

I've messaged the seller asking if this postage price is accurate, and guess what? No reply.:moody:

Yeah I find a lot of UK & US prices to be absolutely absurd... but then again I checked the international postage of one SMS game to the US with signage and it was about $25 (just the postage charge) - it was estimated though but there is a difference between over charging and doubling the price, ha!

Often find couriers to be cheaper...

i sent a Mega Drive game from UK to USA, cost nearly £4 for a single cartridge which quite frankly weighed nothing and is hardly a large item i think this would be around $6.50, however alot of the auctions i have seen recently are doubling that figure, to some its their profit buffer zone so they may not make as much on the item as they would like but that gets slightly bumped back up by the postage profit however when you cost in a jiffy bag, fuel cost to the post office or a bus or something then i suppose it should be higher to cover these costs too

Postage costs need to include packaging and time to the post office.

Just checking the website of a courier and using that price isnt fair.

    You think that's overpriced? :p

    Try this:

I'm in Argentina, and the max I paid for shipping for a loose CD was USD 17.95 (and because I really wanted the disc and couldn't get it anywhere else... and that was for USPS First Class, not even Priority).

PS: The shipping cost for this same disc from this same seller was EUR 29.95 some months ago... not sure how / why he raised it... it was already way overpriced.

The quote shown there is for Express Mail. Of course it'll be expensive.

Lum, I just realised that but even so... Why the seller didn't respond to me is just rude usually in listing they have "message me for any questions" yet they never reply... Even for a manual that can be sent in a card packet shouldn't be $37...
