You bring forth a good point. The sticker on the cartridge looks wrong anyway. I've never seen a pokemon cartridge with the large 'CE' nor one without the E ESRB rating either (in the GBA era). Also, isn't the nintendo seal on the other side? I've never owned ruby personally so I'm not entirely sure.

It's possible that it's legit and the battery has been replaced, just looks dodgy to me.

The CE is on games that are from other regions like PAL compared to NTSC games that you are used to seeing that don't have a CE on them. If you read the model number of the games the last 3 characters denote what region they are from. (USA/EUR/AUS/JPN) I have not seen any replacement batteries for sale that aren't yellow so I'm sure that's all it is. You should be happy it has a new battery :friendly_wink:

Here are pictures comparing the 4 different GENUINE copies of Ruby

EDIT: It is also normal for the Nintendo seal to be shaped differently on games from other regions. You can usually spot genuine games by looking for the imprinted number on the right side of the label and the holographic/reflective sticker it is printed on. Here is a list of all legit releases: [TABLE="class: contrib, width: 760"]

My copy of Ruby had the CE logo on it, and come to think of it I believe my Fire Red does.

Most bootleg copies have the ESRB rating on them, with dodgy print. It's super rare to find a bootleg with PAL labels.

Excellent post kylethedude, by your chart it appears it was a European release. Which makes sense since many stores here sell European versions :)

Yup, European it is. I have never seen a bootleg PAL cart in real life before. I haven't even seen one on ebay before and that's practically bootleg heaven. And yes, just about every pokemon bootleg ever has the ESRB rating on it, but as you said most of them look funny since they're fake mock-ups.

There's more than 4 genuine types of Pokemon R/S cartridges, same for Fire Red/Leaf Green, etc., the others being the localized European versions. The games aren't multi-language, so each European country the game was localized for got their own specific builds and cartridges. The German Sapphire cart, for example, looks identical to the EUR cartridge, excluding the game's logo ("Pokemon Saphir-Edition") and the ID (AGB-AXPD-NOE).

Granted, I don't think I've seen bootlegs of ex. the German or French versions before.

I guess you could put the price on the opinion that it's... art... but $1000 for shipping? Does it come wrapped in gold-plated bubble wrap??

If this is for a Sega Genesis, then why is an Atari 2600 pictured too? In addition, there are only 2 controllers...

Seems like ever since I have listed mine and got $40/disc, everyone is coming out of the woodwork trying to sell theirs too!

This guy has a ton of stuff to sell, I'm thinking he was or still is a developer but is unloading the old stuff. I scored a GCN Memory Card Emulator off of him the other day for a somewhat reasonable price.

I wasn't really trying hard to find all of the faults but there are some obvious ones.
Everything is either "like new" or "as new" even though everything has clearly been used. He also has a kinect sensor and xbox live access, four of the games can even be played on xbox live.
