Well think of it as a pleasure being saved up for the future... the longer the revenge is delayed, the sweeter its taste :smt042
ooooo i like that idea, why can't i think of these things??? I've been had a couple fo times on ebay, once several years ago i brought what was described as a very rare atari 2600 mario cartridge, paid for it and i'm still waiting from it, it was in the same town as me and i was really tempted to try and find out where this person was and go round to demand my goods. I've been having a lot of problems recently with non paying bidders, how about you guys?
same here and that's why I only deal with buyers from US/Europe but no Asia pacific area. Strangely all my non paying bidders were from either Fiji or Vanuatu...??? now if I see bidder with questionable feedback or location I advise the bidder and cancel the bidding. cheers
That's weird, cause all of my non-paying bidders live in the UK, apart from one guy who lived in new york, brought 2 dreamcast consoles off me and then complained when the shipping costs via airmail were the same as the item. Yet he never contacted me to ask the cost of shipping, even though my auctions always state that if your outside of the UK ask for shipping costs before you bid. Sent payment reminders 15 plus emails never heard a word from him. But more recently its people in my own backyard so to speak. Someone from the same local area brought something and then refsed to pay saying the shipping was too expensive. God you gotta love time wasters. :angry
i've been tempted to limit the shipping to Australia only soon. Guess I will have to put the note if the bidder lives outide Australia contact me first... not too keen on the private auction though... anyway I sold my Psy-Q Dev Saturn set so I won't have any big items for sale on eBay unless I decide to offload my Fujitsu FM-NEW7 after I clean it up and Apple IIc if I can get it from my parents place...
I had similar recently. A saturn game, marked as MINT (in fact, click here for the auction There's a dodgy little photo of the front of it. When I receive it, there are numerous faults... including the usual spine wear and scratches on the front, which make the game not mint. Still, for the price this would have been forgivable. What makes it unforgivable is the dirty great tear out of the back sleeve. I e-mail the guy, politely, explaining that I'm happy with the other auctions, and actually left him positive feedback on them, but that item I wasn't happy with. I showed him the picture, and said because of the amount I don't want to quibble and ask for a refund, just ask that he leave me positive feedback on all games and I will leave positive on the last one. No reply. I e-mail again about a week later. No reply. So I get his phone number and call him. The guy who answers I reckon was him, he seemed clued up on it... either that or it was his dad. Convo went something like this... Hello? Hi I'm calling for Rob What's it regarding? I bought something off him on eBay Ohh right, yeah. What's up? Well, the item was described as mint, but it isn't at all. I just wanted to discuss it with him. OK Umm, is this rob? *pause for 20 secs* I'll get him for you... ROOOOBBBBBB!! *another pause* PHONE FOR YOU!!! *yet another pause* um, I don't think he's in. Can I help at all? I then proceed to explain the situation. He says he's just got into eBay too, and they were selling these for a friend (yeah right, quite blatantly this guy is a game seller, and some of his prices are pretty steep). I explain that I don't want a refund, I was just a little upset that he hadn't replied for weeks but has still been posting new items, AND leaving feedback for others. "Oh, well we've been busy" I explained the feedback thing, and said I can understand he wants to keep his feedback 100% good which is why I'm calling... to reassure him that if he leaves me 3 positives I'll give him a 3rd. I also said that I noticed that he'd sold a snes game for 50p and got neutral feedback cuz the game needed a clean before it would work, and how pathetic I thought that was. The guy was apologetic and said he'd get him to contact me. Next thing I know, I get an e-mail from the seller.... OK so guys, tell me... was that game mint? You are other basic collectors! Also, why should I leave him 3 positives? With that attitude, he could go and leave me 3 negatives.
Keep him cool, apologise, then (as said in another thread), wait 89 days and place a comment. If the guy acts innocent when he knows he sold you ripped up games as mint, he deserves to get at least neutral feedback.
I say report him to ebay with a picture of the item, that's what I did when this happened to me.Ebay then contacted him and I got good feedback as I done everything right and he got neg feedback as he should have.Think of the next poor guy who could be one of us on the site or one of your friends who buy off him thinking he is this magic seller with all positive feedback.Even if someone leaves neg for you, you can back it up with a return comment in your feedback section saying why you think they gave you negative feedback and thn if someone does not trust you in the future, you can provide physical evidence of this such as correspondence with ebay payment reciepts from paypal, postal orders etc...I once done it like you and the person still gave me neg cause I had pulled him up, he was being childish and spiteful and I eventually got it removed after I proved to ebay I had paid with paypal one day after the auction.
Funny readin all these stories, I thought I should tell the story of my Panasonic Q.I got a mint q off ebay for 125 pounds and it did not arrive for a week, so I was thinking it was a con.I couldn't have got this good a deal since it was modded and came with an extra pad and all cables and a stepdown .It was then two weeks and still nothing despite paying the day after the auction. So I then emailed him one last time and he replied he had been on holiday and was going to chuck in a couple of freebies for making me wait and was really nice about the matter.Next day it arrived, brand spanking new it was never opened from Lik sang. All modded to play Us games, pal dvd's etc...He had chucked in not one not twoo but three Nintendo 251 memory cards, a Nintendo official BB adaptor, a nintendo sd memory card , a hori kirby 251 memory card. a 16 meg thrid party card, two memory card 59's, a Nintendo SD memory card with sd adaptor, well panasonic card and ninty adaptor, three pads, an modded ntsc rgb cable, nintendo av cables, s video cables, more av cables for the q and another step down.A pack worth 500 quid for 125 and that was with shipping!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Never again will I get a deal like this, this was my birthday present too.I only spotted it on ebay cause he spelt panasonic q qrong, he wrote Pansonic qu.He said he had bought all this lot but went off gaming.I thought he must have nicked it, he must have to jst give me all that stuff and not know the worth of it.I'm going to take pics of my collection for the collection page very very soon so you guys will get t see my star package for yourselves. You can also ask my parents who were there when it came too. The only time I have got down on my hands and knees and saif god bless ebay, but then again I got ripped off the next week on ebay so that's karma.
Wow nintymad, that's quite a bargain! I noticed that my pic wasn't showing, so I fixed that. So guys, is that mint to you?
Wait 89 days and give him 3 negative feedback with accurate descriptions of what he calls mint (paste in a link to the pics so people can see for themselves) That should ruin him good.
Once again (multiple) bad experiences with eBay... First of all I hate those last second bids :smt067 In more than one occasion I lost a bidding on a really wanted item by 50 cents or something, GRRRRR. I don't always have the time to wait till the bidding for the item ends. And when you look at the bidding history afterwards you often see that the winner has bid like 10 times in order to get a higher maximum bid, I don't understand that. Why not just bid the maximum you want to spend? Losing a auction by 50 cents in that way is really frustrating. Secondly, today, I was the highest bidder on two items. But when I looked at the results afterwards I saw the bidder had cancelled both the auctions. I think he thought that the overall maximum bid was too low, so in order to don't lose the items for that kind of money he just cancelled them because "the items aren't for sale anymore". I also base this on the fact that his other auctions weren't retracted because they gained more money. It's not fair :smt009
If you really want to win on ebay just set a very high maximum ammount on the stuff you want and download some sniping software that will do all of the last second bidding for you.
Just have a google search, i'm not saying any names because most people here hate the stuff (actually so do i but sometimes if you really really want something you have to sink low )
I was sniped on ebay as well, and it hurts... It was frustrating to not get Bangai-O, and it was even more frustrating not to get it by less than a dollar difference. HOWEVER.... You people have yet to experience HELL. MercadoLibre, the Mexican version of Ebay is ABSOLUTE TOTAL HELL. I was selling an old copy of Kartia for the PSX - and, well, in that service, you cannot contact people via email, you use a tag-board sort of thing where you cannot leave contact information (so you can't avoid fees). So thru the tagboard, this guy offers 210 pesos for a 280 peso piece of software. Then tells me that if I do not accept his offer, he'll just wait till I can't sell it and reduce the price. I say "Nope, it's 280" He offers me a shite PSX pad for my game. "Nope, I need cash" Etc. ... So I finally fall and tell him I'll sell him the game for 230, and... someone else offers the full quantity. Quickly, this greedy bastard counter-offers, driving my price to 350 pesos so the other buyer cannot buy, yet tells me to keep the 230 price, and take the fees because "i promised". And in the middle of this disastrous transaction... this other guy insults all my other customers and offers 400 that he'll never pay. Never contacts me once the auction ends... he just had a fight to pick with the original buyer. So I leave him be and then I find... some hurtful negative feedback! so he tries to ruin my reputation. Of course, I counter-feedbacked the bastard, and never sold through that damn shite service again. I might even contact customer service if I feel somewhat evil today. Believe you me, people... Absolute Hell.
I'm going through a total shite experience on eBay atm. I won an auction with 150 DC games, for $123, including shipping. This was yesterday. Then, a member on another board pointed out to me that at the bottom it says, (the dude added to the description) This was sold to another buyer yada. This is after I pay, so I was disappointed, but I say "What the heck, I'll just get my money back" I email the dude, and he responds, telling me that his paypal account was hacked and that he never rec'd any payments from me. I smell bullshit of course, so I check on the records, and the the PP account and eBay account are registered in the same last name. Furthermore, if the PP account wasn't registered anymore, it would've told me when I sent the payment. So I've filed a fraud report, and I hope to get my money back soon. Damn... :smt009 I've only been ripped on eBay once, out of 500+ transactions. 1 item got lost in the mail, person was from the same city too. But they had a DC# and were really nice about it, so I didn't bother to ask for a refund.
